Does Rob want to leave something he's been building to re-build another program.
I guess if the price is right...

Sounds to me like Bradley needs a tireless promoter who will energize and inspire the fan base by winning instantly.
Frankly, core fans of the Braves just don't have much time left.
I should add that Bradley graduates its talented senior guard triumvirate of Andrew Warren, Dodie Dunson and Sam Maniscalco.

Wow, it almost seems like that flow chart I made about committing to the students really is the future lifeblood of the program. Duh. This is a major reason we're moving back to campus.

I'm not seeing it. Although in 2010, Bradley's average attendance was higher than Duke's! (http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/8753820042742b01b8b6be967b4a3893/Awide_Mbkbattlists.pdf?MOD=AJPERES&CACHEID=8753820042742b01b8b6be967b4a3893)
It's still more of a lateral move if you ask me. He'd be going from one mid-major to another, perhaps slightly better mid-major, at least from a conference perspective. And the MVC has really been down the last few years as far as getting multiple bids. (at least compared to the highs they experienced in the early 2000's. I think we're seeing the effect of losing a lot of the talented, young coaches to bigger schools.
I personally don't think Rob's going to be in any better position to completely re-tool there and get to the dance, then taking what he's built here and getting into the dance. If he really wants to eventually leave to a major, my personal feeling is that he'd be closer to being given that opportunity by sticking it out here as this team has a very solid foundation for continuing success at this point IMO.

By the way:
"Jeter ... was Wisconsin’s lead recruiter for a decade."
Is Peoria Journal Star reporter Dave Reynolds absolutely certain of that fact and that Rob wasn't the lead recruiter in Madison for just four years?
Man, modern-day journalism is really lacking in the fact-checking department.

In my mind if they offer he's gone.

I think the timing of a departure relative to recruiting is what would have the most adverse effect on the program. Our two touted incoming freshmen were both also courted by Bradley.
If Rob decides to leave, I'll wish him the best and thank him for the strength of his character.
There are some names out there -- both current/former head coaches and assistants -- that we would be well-advised to explore. But that's for another day or hour.

There are a number of components to this story that make me nervous. Costello throwing more money at Jeter a la Bud in 2006 is one of them.

Costello throwing more money at Jeter a la Bud in 2006 is one of them. And that is something this program cannot afford to do right now.
