I remember their griping about the mid major at large bids in the past. There was the year that four mid-majors were in the Sweet 16. Then there was the George Mason Final 4 appearance. Weren't they an At Large bid too?

Mason was an at large and an 8 seed at that.

Listening to sports radio here in Denver today, there was a lot of talk about the Big 12 commissioner perhaps not sticking up for CU because they're leaving the conference and "almost" ripped up the conference. I've also heard grumblings that Wake's AD didn't help due to the buyout Wake had to pay CU to bring on their current coach and past CU coach Jeff Bezdelik. (sp?)
Whether that's true or not, I don't know. I think CU should have been in based on top 50 wins, but it looks like they took RPI into major consideration and CU's sucks due to poor out-of-conference scheduling. Having said that, Harvard should definitely be in though, right?
People can always complain, but there will always be people who feel entitled and don't get in.
Let's go get Northwestern Wednesday.

And one more thing...just so those of you in Milwaukee know how little regarded the non-BCS conferences are outside of the cities represented by that conference.
In the local sports radio complaining about CU, one guy said to the other two guys: (a local guy and Mark Schlereth)
"Who's even in the Missouri Valley Conference, or the Horizon?" Yes, those were the two conferences asked first. Not low-major, but true mid-major and some might say high-mid-major. One guy said isn't Witchita State in the MVC, but they couldn't name another team in the MVC or any team in the Horizon. I was tempted to call in and talk some sense into these so-called experts, but I was on my way home from the store to make dinner.
The success these two conferences have had over the last ten years even though the MVC has been "down" lately, you'd think these guys would know more than one team in the two conferences. I'll probably email them tomorrow. BTW, Colorado is a big-time college football state since the basketball teams traditionally suck, but you'd still think they'd know something about what they're talking about before opening their friggin mouths.

I am sure this is not unique to Denver (and to be clear, I am not claiming you were implying that). I am not confident at all that the local sports tv/radio people in Milwaukee or Chicago would be able to name members of the CAA which has status similar to MVC and Horizon. It's really a lack of in-depth knowledge of college basketball.

You think with Butler making it to the championship game, they'd be able to name a Horizon League team, lol

I stand corrected...heard they were an 8 on sports radio this week...probably the same boneheads that can't name a team from the MVC or Horizon.

Exactly. You would think the leagues that have shown a propensity to move on in the tournament would have at least some of their teams be known. The truth is however, that people can remember the teams but would have no idea what conference they came from. I'm sure many people would be able to say Butler lost the title game, or SIU, NIU, or Milwaukee (as well as Butler) have made memorable sweet 16 runs, but have no idea what conference they come from.
