As bad as I wanted Butler to win, this doesn't have the sting that the Boise State loss to Nevada provided. Not trying to hijack the thread, but that loss shouldn't have stung that much. If Boise State would have ran the table they would have played TCU for the second straight year in a BCS bowl. The BCS will not let Boise St. play in the national championship because should they win, it would put an end to the gravy train. Look at what happened with the Fiesta Bowl, the guy was getting paid 600,000 (equal to what the CEO of United Way makes) to facilitate one game a year, yet still fired for misappropriating funds. As K-raw mentioned, a lot of people who know about Uconns alter alias team sleazeball will wake up feeling sick today, but at least we have a system where good has a chance to prevail over evil. Mid-Majors will get into that game more often, and maybe next time the shots will fall. I wouldn't be surprised to see Butler get another shot next year. Boise State had run the table they would have been in the Rose Bowl. Now on to the subject of the thread. Could we start to see a two tiered mid major system in the future, one that allows a certain type of mid major school to prevail in the NCAA tourney. There will be a perception from recruits and those around recruits, that will favor schools like Butler over schools like Milwaukee. Butler is a small private college which will lead to the perception of better education. Top recruits looking for that balance of perceived top quality education and ability to play in a storied program will choose Butler. As things stand, I think we could see a growing gap in the level of talent that will land at schools like Butler versus schools like Milwaukee. It may not be here now, but Butler definitely has the ability to start recruiting a different level of player. Maybe I'm way off base on this. But I do see this potentially happening.

Helluva run by Butler ... as great as last year's run was, this year's was better just because there weren't many expectations for it.
Congrats to Matt Howard on a stellar career! Yep, I said it. Solid kid who I would've killed to have in a Milwaukee uniform.

Maybe VCU should have beat Butler. They do come from the Connecticut Assassins Association.

Now, Butler has broken my heart twice this season.
In each case, the team for which I was rooting was taken completely out of what it does.

Don't feel bad at all Butler lost and I actually see it as a potentially better scenario for us. Best part was knowing I'll never see Matt Howard again. That almost made me shed a tear of joy. Too bad the NBA's going to a lockout which will prevent Mack from going pro.

gman, last year after Butler's run I very quickly predicted that Butler (nor anyone else) would go undefeated in the H League this year, and that Milwaukee (and others) were not going to concede the race. That's exactly what happened. Butler has had some great runs, but far from Butler separating from the pack, I see the pack elevating to compete with Butler -- and that includes recruiting.
So let me reiterate my same prediction from last year. No one's going to sweep the league next year, and Milwaukee is not going to concede the race.
It's been nearly 24 hours, and I say the Butler love-fest, though well deserved, ends here.
War Milwaukee!

I couldn't have said this any better, Fran.
What do they say about the biggest boat?
The Bulldogs have my ultimate respect; I do not fear them.
