John Saunders, "Wichita State can be one of two teams to end the season with a smile on their face" Someone needs to tell him 1 of 4 teams. Hey John, there is the CBI and CIT. Santa Clara at Iona is at 7pm on Wednesday night for the title. It's on Fox College Sports. Oregon-Creighton in the best of three. Bluejays up 1-0 scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=310870156

I think I'll take this opportunity to point out that John Saunders knows less about college basketball than Charles Barkley.

G.o.D. and I were both wondering aloud - how did Oregon get home court advantage?

We never once talked about Wichita State as a candidate for an at-large berth.

I'm glad WSU won the NIT! That being said, no in hell they should've been in the NCAA toury. Zero wins versus the RPI Top 75.

Their resume was lacking for sure, I caught a Wichita State game this year and they passed my eye test, but it is difficult to weigh the subjective and objective. Also Greg Marshall can coach, did a very good job at Winthrop. Congrats to them.

Face it, with the expansion of the field to 68, there will be more teams with "soft" resumes than ever before ... every year.

But to me that's the point of the field of 68. To take four teams (really eight, as there are four play-in games) who pass the eye test brilliantly but don't have the necessary quality wins and give them a chance for one final audition to move into the final field of 64. No San Antonios -- teams who already earned their way in by winning their tournaments -- just Wichita States and VCUs.

Agreed.
I would much prefer to see the second- or third-place team from a mid-major league, one that's been playing for its season for a month or more, than a sixth- or seventh-place BCS conference team that's already missed 13 chances to make a positive impression.
Give me Cleveland State, Missouri State or Wichita State over Clemson, Colorado or Alabama.
I'll always believe that a team with eight wins in its last 10 or so games is more dangerous.

It's who you beat, not who you maybe will beat.
