20 of the 32 teams in the NIT first round, will be on the ESPN family of network. I hope the Panthers are one of them.

How are arenas selected? Is it based on seeding or is it based on facilities?

We're an eight seed? Who is this guy? Jimmy, we are actually a middle 7th seed based off RPI/resumes I believe, so him projecting us as an 8 is by no means a stretch. And FYI, he's also a guy that upon receiving this email from me two days ago... ___________________________________________ Love the site every year. One thing that you could update that would save you some space is that "wisconsin-milwaukee" is now known as just "milwaukee" for athletics:

And we Milwaukee Panther fans wouldn't mind seeing the name updated on your site too.... ;-)
Keep up the great work!

Oh and btw, playing a 1 or 2 seed (by getting a 7 or 8 seed) almost guarantees us an ESPN network game in the first round. So there is that.

How are arenas selected? Is it based on seeding or is it based on facilities? That's the old way. CM Newton is the chairmen. They seed 1 thru 8, with seeds 1 thru 4 playing at home. So it's now based on seeding.

Or last season as the #8 seed Stony Brook, hosted the #1 seed Illinois

IIRC that was because Illinois already had something booked at Assembly Hall and they had no alternatives. Since 2006 the NIT has seeded the tournament and the higher seed normally hosts unless they are unable to. Since they went to this format only Manhattan as a 9 seed (NIT had 40 teams in 2006, hence why they are a 9 seed) beat Maryland in 2006 and Jacksonville beat Arizona State last year.
My hope is that we get to play a team from a BCS conference.

Folks, I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around the NIT at the moment.
Maybe it's because the sting of last night's loss is still fresh.
What in your opinion are the prospects of landing a middle-of-the-road matchup instead of playing an impossible-dream opponent like Villanova, Michigan State or Georgia?

I think Villanova and Michigan State will end up in the NCAA's.
I just want a tv game for the Panthers!

Right now Lunardi's last four in, first four out and next four out consist of:
Last Four In Michigan State Virginia Tech Colorado Georgia
First Four Out Alabama USC Missouri State Washington State
Next Four Out Baylor Nebraska Memphis UTEP
Most likely our opponent would come from that group if we are a 7 or 8 seed in the nit. Out of that group I would love to play MSU, but it seems like they would be in unless they lose against Iowa.
I think Washington State would be fun since I followed that program pretty closely under the Bennetts and their are still alot of Bennett recruits on the team.
