I have a question for any Butler fans who visit this board. I was sitting in Sec. 223 - the same section as the Butler parents/fans. Is gentleman in his 40s who was on the refs from the tip at every Butler game? Good Lord - he knew every ref by name and complained about every call in the first half. I heard Arcibald Whaley is garbage or Archi you're a piece of s##t a 100 times during the first half. This guy was like nighthawk x 10 . Anyway, I know every team has a few of those type of fans. Congrats to the Butler student section for coming out in full force. I don't know you but you had to seat right by me. I was in sec 223, row 6. Brandon Wood's mom was taking sh*t to me and others after the game. She is a pile of sh*t. I said to her " Nice Class" It's a shame because I like Wood. I think he is a great player.

I'm sure that despite the comments on the Valpo Fan Board, most of their fans realize that the better team won.
We had fresher legs and for the most part we were quicker. Slower, tired players often have no choice but a foul to keep their opponent from scoring.
I saw some fouls that could've been called on them and some that could've been called on us. The key is being consistent in your calls and I thought that overall the refs were. The call that Drew contested to the point of getting a T was legit. We were wondering what he was b*****g about. and finally concluded it was just an attempt to intimidate the refs.
At any rate, congrats to Valpo for a great season. I'm sure most their fan base has more class than some of the posters on their board are showing right now.

Actually, I thought the technical came at a stage in the game when Smiling Homer thought he needed to change the momentum. I don't think he does anything without some motive.
If you pour through the game thread on the Valpo board, there are plenty of posters who feel that the tougher, fresher team won the game last night.
The topic there has already shifted to whether or not the Crusaders will garner an NIT bid.

The part of the game where Homer got the T, Hill had the block on the Valpo players. It looked like the Valpo player than ran into Hill's elbow. (I taped the game on ESPNU)

Use the Valpo board as a learning tool. That is what sore losing looks like in text. Hell, we're all guilty of it to some degree, but read it and ask yourself if that's what you want to sound like the next time we lose. Blaming the refs is customary for the losing team, but attacking the band, the students, the fan base, the team, etc. is not what I want to see on this board. Let's be above that.
Best of luck to Valpo in securing a post-season tournament bid. They run a quality program.

Ya, but Brandon Wood's mom has no class. Yelling at Milwaukee fans, when nobody said or even looked at her, " I hope Butler kicks your ass" "My son is the best player in the league"

Great game and what an atmosphere! It definitely reminded me of "the old days". Despite how well we played, I never quite felt comfortable with Brandon Wood on the other side. (Pre-season Horizon player of the year next year?) Congratulations Milwaukee and can't wait until Tuesday. Lets take care of Mr. Flopper and Co. for the 3rd time this year. I made the exact comment to my wife as I recorded both games last night. I can't remember the last time the side bars weren't there.

I'm on the other side of 223 towards center court. I saw Wood's Mom getting into it with some Panther fans. Yeah, she seemed like a trip. I liked the 32 mom jersey. Is Wood married? Some girl was rocking a Valpo 32 jersey with "Wifey" on the back.

As average as the team looked last night they were really in control for the entire game. There was a few points in the first half where they got away from the inside out game that allowed Valpo to make some runs but really they just ran out of gas which is expected based on the schedule for teams that dont get the double byes.
The key for Tuesday seem to be to pound the ball in early and test Howard and Smith's ability to guard Hill without fouling. I almost expect them to double him and if that is the case he needs to pass effectively out of the double teams and find the open man who must hit the open shots.
The other major key is the attendance of fans and students. If the house is rocking the team should really be able to feed off of that energy.
Its hard to beat any team 3 times in a season and Butler is a very good team that plays hard and for pride every time out. I like our chances but Butler scares me. It should be if nothing else a great game that is helping put the program back on the minds of students and casual fans.

I sit in section 123 and I have to say the Valpo fans were some of the worst fans to have visited our house in a long time. On sat nite we came to the game about five minutes in to the game and went to our seats. We asked the people sitting in them to please move and they got all upset. One of them was talking the whole way out. When we asked what she said she said quote"I am not talking to you I am just talking out loud"HUH- They were whiners and when tone got knocked down at the end some tool behind us was cheering. One of the valpo fans said we had no class- really? way to represent your christian values. Glad we won and to the mother who told me on Fri nite after the game that they had "unfinished business with UWM" Guess you will have to wait untill next year. Bring on Butler YES IT IS THE SHOES!

We should use this as a lesson. People on this broad are as guilty as Valpo fans in criticizing the officiating when the Panthers have lost close games. It's typical in sports, win and the game was called fairly, simply the better team that night won. Lose and the officiating played in the outcome. My kids are involved in sports. I'm trying to teach my kids to never complained to the officials during a game. If you don't agree with something politely ask the official what was the reason for a call or non-call. Don't blame the officials for a loss.
Let's try to be better than the Valpo board and other boards. Officiating, even "bad" officiating, is part of the game that you have to deal with.
Having said that, it was a great game.

The Valpo-Detroit game, the Valpo fans wan't a foul call on every play. I thought some of them were going to have a heartattack or kill the ref.
