Congrats to Butler. I said there would be less BU fans at the game than on Saturday.

I thought the fans were great! The place was going nuts when the Panthers cut it to 38-34 early in the 2nd half.

Despite the team's poor performance on the court, you couldn't ask for better support from the students. Yeah the cell wasn't completely full, but the student section was great. A win would have better, but look at the bright side, at least 3,000 students showed up. Even if the team loss, at least the students got a taste of what a great basketball atmosphere is like. I bet this championship game will raise the overall spirit at this school for years. For the students who stood in those stands tonight will not forget this game, and the expectations are that the panthers will get their revenge.

For Anthony to not commit a single foul in the first 35 minutes or so and then commit 3 with 5 minutes left is totally inexcusable. How do you not commit a single foul? That means you weren't aggressive enough. Then, because you're upset, you commit 3 fouls in a matter of about 2 minutes? Tough to see that. Still, a completely enjoyable season. Who would have guessed we would have hosted the HL tournament w/ a guaranteed NIT bid a couple months ago? Crazy. I still love my Panthers...

Just got home from the game, so I'll keep my comments short and sweet.
Very proud of my alma mater, the players who represent it, the coaches who believed in them that they could turn the season around, the current students and recent grads who brought it tonight, and the fans in attendance for helping see our team through a rough start.
After the quick start after halftime, I began to think to myself, "If they pull this out, it will be fitting ... a microcosm of the season. Sluggish, inconsistent start, capped by a furious rally."
Alas, it was not to be. But like I said after the Packers won the Super Bowl ... this is only the beginning. I wish like hell Anthony and Tone could get into the NCAAs, but know that this team will finish strong in the NIT.

This should be Ryan Allen's daily offseason schedule:
10 AM: Take jumpers 11 AM: Take jumpers 12 PM: Take jumpers 1 PM: Take jumpers 2 PM: Take jumpers 3 PM: Take jumpers
EDIT: Watching the replay on ESPNU. Color commentator says the following: "Ryan Allen has a tremendous resemblance to Tony Allen, now with the Memphis Grizzlies." Research!

Disappointing end to our NCAA tournament run, but I'm still proud of our guys. They showed a lot of heart over the last half of the season and have no reason to hang their heads. It's too bad that we let nerves get in the way of winning the conference tourney, since we have proven that Butler is not better than us. Oh well... let's just hope that we have another opportunity shortly to experience this again. Because it was a FUN ride.
I'm glad our seniors will be able to play at least one more game. Maybe an upset in the NIT will help ease our pain?

Two conference title games were played simultaneously last night, both featuring a 1 and a 2 seed.
One had an attendance of 10,437. The other? 2,105 (paid).
We'll let you decide which tournament does a better job in determining how hosting rights are determined. Maybe Mark Lazerus knows now.

I guess Jimmy put it in a good perspective to me last night. The Milwaukee Panthers lost in the 12th Round of their NCAA Tournament.
Heck of a season, now lets clean it up and move toward the NIT

This should come as little surprise, given that the Summit League title draw between Oakland (Rochester, Mich.) and Oral Roberts (Tulsa, Okla.) was staged in Sioux Falls, S.D. Had the Panthers carried their weight to the finish (and Butler not been so battle-tested), our tournament format would have worked to absolute perfection.

Will be hard to sleep tonight. This was prophetic. I don't think I got a wink. I ache for all the players and coaches who brought us on this incredible ride and the people behind the scenes who do so much to advance this program. Words can't describe how I feel. When you get this close to grabbing the brass ring and can't close the deal, it hurts ... whatever the score. To me, it doesn't hurt any less than when we fell to UIC in 2004. You guys all know that I like and respect Butler immensely; well, there's also nobody I'd rather beat. This now gives the Bulldogs as many tournament titles as we've had over the last nine years. Yes, I'm keeping score. Now, I'm reduced to cheering for them again in the NCAAs. One of these years, I'm thinking very soon, it will again be our turn. In the meantime, I want our players and coaches to know that the season isn't over. There's still work to be done. We've got four Division 1 postseason wins. I want to add five to that total before this season's done.

Last night's game exposed one of our biggest weaknesses: the lack of a quality, true PG. That's about as bad as Williams can play, and he needed to be on the bench. I hope Boga comes in ready-made next year because we're going to need him.

I hope Boga comes in ready-made next year because we're going to need him. In my opinion, it's more the lack of a quality back-up PG. Williams is a quality PG, who had a terrible night. He would have been benched if we had a capable back-up.

Yes, I meant back-up PG.
