Gonna be a tough one to win without Meier.

I think it will be near impossible to win without Meier, hate to say it.

Depends how good Harris is, and Harris looked great. One of Anthony Hill's great strengths was asserting the post off a high screen, and Harris does it extremely well. Harris also provides some solid defensive muscle against Draymond Green.
Also, if Gulley is as good a 3-point shooter as he was in JC, we can cover Meier's impact on the perimeter. For the record, I don't think we can win that game with Meier at 110%, but it's not like we don't have the weapons at our disposal to make it interesting.

I'd be surprised if we were blown out, even without Tony Meier. We can win. All we need is the team to believe that.

Eh, it's a home game and Tom Izzo is a legend. If basketball teams couldn't make up for roster turnover the sport would be kind of silly. The Wisconsin game I almost expect us to win, this one not so much.

Sorry to say it, but it's going to be darned-near impossible for the Panthers to beat Michigan State, Wisconsin or Marquette (and likely UNI) without Tony Meier. 'Tis the life of a mid-major.
What the guys should focus on is taking care of business against Northern Illinois, IUPUI, UALR, DePaul and Western Michigan. These games have been the trip-wires of the past.

Unfortunately, that is my fear as well. My optimism for the non-conference schedule has taken a hit with the injury to Tony. I'm not looking forward to the UW game as much as I was before this happened. Hopefully I'll be wrong and someone else will be able to step up. We'll have a better idea during these first couple of games. Our lineup on paper looks great - let's just hope it carries over onto the court.

I doubt not having Tony for those games really affects the end result. Historically Tony has never been gang-busters against Wisconsin or Marquette. Not that I don't think Tony could easily end up being our best player this year. I just think that if we even have a chance against MU, MSU, or UW it will be because our team as a whole has elevated its play. We'd undoubtedly need Kaylon to play lights out, and we need a concerted effort by the entire team to limit turnovers and put the ball in the bucket.
I think we go 1-2 w/o Tony. I'm an optimist.

If Green Bay could beat Wisconsin at home, we can do it. I'll leave it at that.

Trying to get some word on today's scrimmage at Welsh-Ryan.
I know that the coaches were very excited about the opportunity.

Sunday, the Panthers and Wildcats played three 20-minute scrimmages at Welsh-Ryan Arena, with the first two featuring man-to-man and the third featuring zone.
Everyone on the two rosters played with the exception of Tony Meier and Jershon Cobb.
I'm told that it was hardly a mismatch, with the implication being that the 'Cats -- powered by offensive juggernaut John Shurna -- got the better of the action.
Panther forwards Demetrius Harris and James Haarsma received special mention.

Thanks for info! I still think we got hosed at their place last year, anyways nice to see that Haarsma and Harris are able to make significant contributions against Big Tens teams.
