I know because I was in possession of the contract until I moved my things out of the Post office and misplaced it.
It was originally through 2013, but Bud gave him a year extension every year thereafter.

So, my challenge to the board would be to move the conversation away from firing Rob Jeter to posing the question, "How can the situation around him improve?" and doing your best to answer that question. The situation this season would improve if somebody stepped up and assumed a leadership role on this team. I still think the talent is there but somebody needs lead this team ON the court. Even though Ricky wasn't a true PG its apparent we really miss him out there.

Jeter's contract is extended through 2016 at a minimum. I believe it is guaranteed.

Most people "grow into" their jobs in six months, not six years. He's not a good coach and likely won't be.
Given his contract, he's got the university by the balls and he knows it.

was a senior when pearl took uwm to sweet 16. best thing ever. under jeter, this is boring and losing basketball.
used to have season tickets after graduation. stopped going to games altogether since jeter has taken this program down the drain.
It is not good basketball. the players aren't good and he is a horrible coach.
fire jeter !

Just in case anyone is wondering, Jeter's contract is 411k per year through 2015-16. There is no buyout clause in his contract, so he would be owed the remainder of his contract. That's $2.055 million, plus a prorated portion of his contract this year through June 1 or July 1st (I can't remember which month, as if it matters). Sit tight, because the program's biggest donors aren't going to bankroll that. Nothing is going to change at the head coaching position for at least a couple years. Can we save this post and mark this for anyone who wants to start yet ANOTHER thread on this tired and unoriginal topic?

Bud Haidet should pay for the buyout or do the fundraising.

u are absolutly stupid if u think Jeter should be fired. I also don't think Jeter should be fired, but you better be able to explain WHY or else these people will pick you apart. This is an intelligent fan base.

Like him or not, Jeter is our coach and we should support him.

This is an intelligent fan base. Yes please! We have heard from many people on this board many reasons why it would be justified to put the heat on Jeter, yet the only argument against it is a non-basketball reason (Money). I would be curious to hear from someone passionate about Jeter and his work, exactly why your so on board. I'm imagining your likely on his staff or associated with him in some way. Either way I am very curious of the other side of this issue. My reasoning for being extremely displeased with Jeter right now isn't just because of the (perceived) poor strategies and in game coaching thus far, but rather because over the last couple of games, its seemed his guys have simply given up on him. I'm much more encouraged today, seeing as Lonnie tweeted about standing up for coach, and that despite the issues they haven't given up on Jeter. (I hope its uniform anyways) That's very refreshing, and I hope the ship gets righted this year, and Jeter proves all his haters wrong.

I'm as critical of Jeter as the next guy, but my argument has always been that firing him right now as this thread calls for, is too drastic. If we fire Jeter now, one of the assistants would almost certainly take over, and I have less faith in them turning this season around than I do in Jeter.
Coach Jeter has taken this team back from slow starts before. I'll spare the data because we can all remember games that we should have won, and didn't. Yet he's improved every year since he's had his own players. Still if Jeter continues to have no effect on this team effort-wise and resluts-wise then yes, at the end of the season it should be time to look into replacements. While money may be a recurring argument for keeping Jeter, that's because it's a pretty big one. The Department is already hurting financially and we'll be paying RJ millions over the next few years to do nothing. Add to that we'll need to bring in a coach who doesn't mind getting a significantly worse deal both length-wise and pay-wise.
In hindsight, giving Jeter the specific contract we did was a mistake. We were emotional from the 2nd round NCAA tournament run and the 'not again' feeling after Bruce ditched us. We made a mistake letting our emotions get the best of us. Let's not do that again.

The assistants are all on one year contracts FY starting July 1. Don't blame just Bud for the contract insanity, Helen Mamarchev signed off on those one year extensions as well. Funny thing is, she was the biggest opponent to paying him 411K annually.
