Wow, that's big news indeed. All the more reason for Ant to play the way he did toward the end of last season.
I still put our chances of winning somewhere around 25%, but if the shooters find their stroke and Tony, Ant, and Kyle give us some inside play, then who knows?

Ant and Lonnie likely breathing a sigh of relief. Kelm, Big Mitch and Haggs may now be seeing minutes if Ant gets in foul trouble. Not sure about Tony, he plays more on the perimeter.

Tony's a solid post defender with a decent pullback mid-range jumper. It's a spotty comparison, but he's a little like Jon Leuer. Leuer is better off the dribble, but he doesn't have a particularly effective post game against big players, relying instead on his good jumper. Tony should embrace that aspect of his game.
I could see Tony getting some defensive minutes against Otule, who I would not be surprised to see play at least 20 minutes, maybe 25.

I'm still not sold on Mitch. He's certainly a big body, but just so darn slow. He repeatedly got beat when we saw him in Portland (played significant minutes compared to what he's played at home). MU will likely be too fast and athletic for him to see much time on the court.
I could see Lonnie and Ryan being key players inside. I'm more and more impressed with Allen's ability to go get a rebound. He just needs to work on his scoring around the hoop... a classic case of an ultra-athletic guy not quite knowing how to slow down.

Mitch only really got beat on switches and help defense -- a nice addition overall to Jeter's repertoire this year, I have to say -- but I think we can work around that by adjusting our defense when he's on the court. And I still think his offensive woes at this point can be chalked up to injury. This level of FG% and FT% incompetence is a massive historical anomaly for him. The guy shot 46% from the field and 80% from the line in limited minutes in 08-09, and back-end major conference talent is generally comparable to the types of players he's seen so far this year.

I'd be very surprised if Mitch played more than 5 minutes in this game. Marquette will likely go small, which in my opinion puts us at a great disadvantage. I remember in 2008 watching Ant throw a ball over the backboard and thinking, "God, get him out of there." Last year he faired better, but I hope that the bright lights don't get to him. Let's hope the friendly confines of the Cell help him in that regard (though 8,000 people might cancel that). What we need is heady leadership from Kaylon, a hot hand from Tone, and a confident, defensive presence from Ryan Allen to have a shot in this game. I don't see Kaylon, Ryan, or Tone (23 points against Marquette in '08) being scared of Marquette, and I certainly think they can keep us in this game. I'd also like to see Ja'Rob get the majority of the minutes between him and Lonnie... We're going to need shooters in this game, and I'm not sure (while I love his tenacity and rebounding ability) that Lonnie has the footspeed to keep up with DJO or Vander Blue (though I'd love to be wrong). This game will be interesting, and I'm holding out hope that we can put up a real strong fight if the proper balls bounce our way...

If Marquette goes smaller, we can get all of our best on-ball defenders on the court -- Kaylon, Ryan, Tone, Kyle, and Ant -- without sacrificing offense. A smaller lineup is a push. Unless by smaller you mean a bunch of 6'6" players.

Haggerty is the wild card in that scenario, as he's an athletic, quick defender for a player his size. He's been the odd man out in the lineup so far, but I still think he needs some minutes given his range of impact late last season. He's fast enough and physical enough to guard some of Marquette's more athletic wings. And I'm fairly comfortable with Allen and Williams giving up a few inches as both are excellent defenders.

Was this an attempt at sarcasm? The guy played a total of 30 minutes at South Carolina so how can you call his percentages a "massive" historical anomaly this year? The guy just might not be very good. I don't think he is any better than Sam Mauldin or Michael Bendall at this point.

What happened to the black out for this game?
I'm very disappointed I never heard anything official.
I have told the group I'm bringing to wear black.

What happened to the black out for this game? I'm very disappointed I never heard anything official. I have told the group I'm bringing to wear black. www.uwmpanthers.comWhen you first enter the site, it says to "Black Out The Cell." Sounds like they'll be giving out black t-shirts when you walk in. How many of these shirts do you think will be thrown in the garbage by MU fans?

That's it?!?!?!?
They send out enough emails to us season ticket holders. In fact they just sent one out today. NO mention at all about the black out.
