Also I would like to point out some things about the students. After I missed that half court shot late in the 1st half I walked around and chatted with people and saw that a lot of students were sitting all over the arena and not in the "section". I think the student attendance was great last night

The entire bleachers opposite the student section were 3/4 full of students.
What we need to do is get them not only standing and cheering, but very excited to do so.

For anyone who is a proponent of moving all games back to Klotsche, I'd love to hear your argument after last night's game. Outside of exhibition games, it flat out sucks. If there's ever a new arena on campus, there'll have to be so many drastic changes (parking and entertainment for instance) to the area that I just don't see it happening...sadly.

Actually I'm surprised it was that high. It looked like around 1,000 to me. This certainly doesn't make the case for moving the games back to campus. Move the games back to the KC and they students will come...... What a joke. Did 200 students even show up???

Of course, my seats were better than Lou's. You and 90% of the people in the building had better seats than me. I'm none too pleased with the seating arrangement, I'll tell you that. I've had front row, center court seats since Bo's first year...and I was pushed way off to the side. Our friends, who have season tickets right behind us....had tickets at the KC behind the basket. The seating arrangement was a train wreck...the high speed, Milwaukee to Madison variety. I'm not going to complain cause I can suffer through one more exhibition game with those seats....but its an absolute joke!!

The key to getting students to games (especially at the Klotsche) is right there at Sandburg! These are students who probably don't have cars, probably have nothing better to do than order a pizza and watch tv, and people who are looking for reasons to A) meet new people and B) do things as a group of 4-5 friends.
There should be flyers on the walls; handouts at breakfast, lunch & dinner; flyers on everyone's doors, and when games start at the Cell again the person driving the bus should be FORCING students on the bus... in a non-violent way obviously!
But target the students who are looking for something to do. Someone needs to be spreading the word at the dorms for the game Saturday. And don't wait until the day before or day of. It should be all day, every day, and with plenty of reminders. Hell, the RA's should be encouraging people on a regular basis to go to a game.
Forgive me if these efforts are being done and students still aren't showing up. It's been a good 6-7 years since I was in the dorms. I have no idea how things are there anymore. Just a thought...

And as a first year season ticket holder in the lower 200 level, I was not very impressed with my Row M seats at the KC. But as you said, there are only a couple more games left there so I'll live. But clearly not much thought went into the seating arrangements for these games.

Absolutely nothing was done beyond the Spirit Week thing, which most students didn't hear about.

But a great thought. I know when I was a freshman and lived in Sandburg South Tower (2001-2002) there was very little promotion of games. I went to a few (at the KC actually), but only because I became friends with some people who knew about the team. If we bring home games back to campus (as we should) I think we need to do it the right way and built a new arena (something along the design lines of The Resch Center). But the money... The Cell's annual/seasonal expense alone should justify a wise investment in a future on-campus (and more manageable/profitable) home of UWM's biggest sports program. Or, supposing the on-campus arena developments stall or get shelved, might the WCD be willing to negotiate lower lease terms? That is one thing I haven't seen/heard considered. Less money is better than no money for them.

I got an answer in how the paid crowd was only 1,690.
There is over 100 new season tickets holder for this season. But, playing on campus eliminates a large block of tickets the Wisconsin Center Disrict has/uses for our games down there as per their contract. There is a good-size block of paid sponsor "season" tickets that sponsors have more flexibility to use for games of their choosing this year, in part because of the lack of chairback seats at Klotsche and our desire to give those seats to our regular season ticket holders. Specific, to Monday night's game, MSOE had fewer people there than some of our other recent exhibition opponents, and not unexpectedly- the walk-up attendance is less on campus than it is downtown. All of those things play into the attendance on Monday. Student attedance on Monday was roughly the same as it was for the first exhibition game last season.
