I hear that the Niagara return date will be played in the upcoming season, right after the trip to Portland and before the home game with Northern Iowa. Nov. 12 -- vs. UC Davis Nov. 13 -- vs. Florida Atlantic Nov. 14 -- at Portland Nov. 17 -- at Niagara Nov. 20 -- Northern Iowa Ouch. From the West Coast to New York state to play your fourth game in five days.

Not what the coaches wanted, but the contract is signed.

Do they know the day of the MU game?

Ouch. From the West Coast to New York state to play your fourth game in five days. Six days. They've got two days off in there.

True... however, they could be playing a late night game (10 p.m. Wisconsin time) against Portland (it's a Sunday so maybe not) and then probably a 6 p.m. Wisconsin time start against Niagara.
Factor in they'll spend probably a good portion of the day attempting to get from Portland to Niagara Falls ... I'm sticking with five days.

Go with Hack's timetable. If it's off, it's likely off only by an hour. Figure on an early-morning flight from Portland to Niagara Falls and a day of sleep on Monday, a nighttime practice and then one day for the players to sight-see and get their legs back. I would think Wednesday's game would be at 6 p.m.
As for the schedule, it comes from a pretty reliable source.

I hope we are not making a big deal from Portland to Niagara. It's the first games of the year, there kids they will be fine. All the time on the road early in the year could be a good thing for team bonding.

Because all the guys on the team that I've met seem like terrific people, I'll bet the trip will be great for team bonding.

Not a big deal ... just a general observation.
I save "making a big deal" out of important issues like when a community newspaper in Idaho refers to us as Wis.-Milwaukee.
We should talk about that more often here.

Do you know any dates for the Western Michigan, Bowling Green or MU games?

mupanther, I don't.
Hack, that's a good one (laughing).
At this point, I don't care what they call us as long as we regain/sustain relevancy in men's and women's basketball, baseball and men's soccer, which was once our flagship sport and a national power.

We should talk about that more often here. If we do want to be known as Milwaukee instead of the hyphen it all starts with our athletic department branding our program as such. Until the department does this successfully then people will continue to call us Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UWM or some variation of that. The best example of this is our athletics website which is uwmpanthers.cstv.com/ and once you get on the site the logo still says UWMPanthers. Honestly what we are called isn't a big issue with me. I would rather have the hoops program go to another NCAA tourney than have people call us the Milwaukee Panthers.
