I know our pool in the past has been greater than just WI. That has been a good thing and a necessity. My comment is in response to the list provided earlier in this thread that listed all WI players as our "dream class"

To be honest, it is hard to get excited about recruits until they actually hit the floor. While the new players have been successful, I think the jury is still out on this staff's recruiting success. Plus as we see offering scholarships early and getting all worked up about recruits can be for nothing as these recruits get more exposure and are courted by high major schools.

It's always somewhat unkown, admittedly. Mark Pancratz had a great pedigree coming out of high school, but he was just a guy at UWM. No one had ever heard of James Eayrs, and he's likely to be a big factor in the H League for two years.
That said, our staff works very hard, and Rob was the top assistant when Bo brought in the guys who were the heart of the program all the through Bruce's tenure and into Rob's first year. There's reason for optimism.

Ric Cobb brought in some, Bo brought in some and believe it or not, Bruce actually did bring in some.

I had a chance to take in the Racine Lutheran/St. Catherine's game last night. St. Cat's features some D-1 prospects in Jake Thomas (very good mid-Major prospect, smooth jumpshot and very good hops) and Javar Lawson (athletic but not much skill, more of a D3 prospect). The player who caught my eye was Steve McWhorter, a 6-1 junior PG. He's lightning-quick with a very good handle and body control in the lane. In one instance, he drove the lane with his right hand, and in mid-air switched to his left and laid it while twisting his body to avoid a charge. Also showed his range by knocking down a couple of outside jumpers. I have no idea if this kid is on the staff's radar, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at him.

gman2:
2 players brought in by Bo that were part of the heart of the program, if you will, during Bruce's tenure? Adrian Tigert and Chris Hill.

I know there were a number of players Bo brought that played and were at the heart of the team during Pearl's tenure. Add to the list: Jason Frederick Kolombo Kadima Nate Mielke Dylan Page Justin Lettenberger Dan Weisse James Wright Did I forget someone?

wasn't Joah Tucker really orignally courted and recruited by Bo Ryan as well? Bruce brought in Ed McCants, Boo Davis, Jason McCoy mainly

Ryan offered Joah out of HS, but he wanted out of Wisconsin. When he realized the grass wasn't greener, he called Pearl and told him he wanted to transfer. Pearl called Bo, and Bo said he'd be a hell of a player there.

Are we in the running for Flavien Davis at all? Mark Miller has him at #8 in the junior class, yet espn has him ranked 44 on their espnu 100. How good is he really?

I've seen Flavien a few times and I would agree with Mark. He is a classic tweener and his guard skills are ok. He could be a decent player but I don't see a good fit at UWM.
I would be interested to see McWhorter play. Mark Miller has him rated as the 20th best junior.

I rate McWhorter as best overall name.
