Good luck to Chip. He's a good basketball player and an even better person. I certainly wish we could have gotten him to play here.
I think the reasonable guess right now is that Josh winds up at Maryland, Arizona State or Virginia. I just wouldn't invest any time recruiting him any longer. The only way he was going to end up at Milwaukee was if Chip and Kyle committed here. Let's turn our focus to Alec Brown, Cole Stefan, Ryan Pierson and Steve McWhorter and try to get a building block or two to go along with Calvin Godfrey, Tony Meier, Ja' Rob McCallum, Lonnie Boga and Ryan Haggerty.

Careful UWM 97.... you are badmouthing the program and being negative about recruiting which is obviously much improved... Seriously. I agree...we have to develop relationships with key coaches in the state so once in awhile we can get a guy like Adrian Tigert right from high school. Been a long time. . .

I'm officially on the Steve Tecker bandwagon. Is UWM even after him?
It would be nice to get at least one Top 10 player from the heralded 2010 WI class.

The only way he was going to end up at Milwaukee was if Chip and Kyle committed here. While I generally agree with Fran's previous point about getting good players no matter where they're from, you raise an important point regarding local recruiting. If one of a group of four or five locally-targeted players commit to UWM, that gives us an advantage for the others who have yet to commit. Yeah, these kids go to different schools, but they are buddies who play together in the summer and talk all the time. A "package" deal need not necessarily mean players from the same school, ie Flowers and Johnson. It could mean a group of players in SE Wisconsin. It's disheartening to lose local recruit after recruit to other mid-major programs, especially when the talent level in this state is at it's peak in years.

www.wissports.net/sports/hoopsb/blog/message.aspx?f=123&id=1053529As far as I know, we haven't approached Steve Tecker. I believe our focus now is on SG Cole Stefan (6-foot-3) from Winona (Minn.) and WG Troy Huff (6-4) from Brookfield Academy. The other guard who's reportedly on the radar is PG Steve McWhorter (6-2) from St. Catherine's.

While i generally i agree with Fran as well about getting good players. I am just getting frustrated with the lack of results for landing local guys. We need to land more guys like Averkamp, Blount, Polka, Rank, K Mitchell etc. Personally i think the local guys are good enough to help you win and secondly it wouldn't hurt to draw more people to the stands.
