... who for at least three-quarters of last night's game "filled out" three-quarters of the UWM student section. I should add that they represented their institution with class and grace (No sarcasm intended or implied.) Good luck, guys, with your trip to Valpo tonight. Watch out for those three game officials from Merrillville, Ind.

there was a student section? seriously, it's embarassing how uninterested our student body is. we go from having packed sections to literally nobody in the span of one season?! i don't care what time of year it is, what day of the week it is, or who's studying for what... that turnout was pathetic.
half the fun of college basketball is the environment the students create and we've had great turnouts for a while now. it's a shame to see that disappear so quickly. and frankly, an inexperiened team really needs to know they have support. the team could have really used it last night.

I remember when I was a student from 2000-2003 and most of the attendance or at least 33% of the attendance was from the student body. How does the excitement on campus just dwindle away in one year. This team isn't that bad, their just extremely young and it shows in how they finish games.

Guys, realize that these two games were over Thanksgiving break. No reason to say the section abandoned everything.

i'd have to say that the last couple games have been at bad times, thanksgiving eve, and 2 sunday night games. i would hope that we dont schedule games on sundays anymore. even if students show up its more of a lazy atmosphere. that being said, there isnt any reason to not come to games, if i can find the time certainly others can too.
we might as well get used to it though, we're heading into break and the crowd will continue to be nonexistant until mid-late jan unless our boys start winning.

i'd like to think the break had a lot to do with it... certainly wednesday's game. but i'd imagine most students are back by 7pm sunday night. when you look back to last year's games over the breaks the crowds certainly were significatly smaller, but never to the point that you couldn't even fill the first couple rows! that's terrible and it's really a big deal when you think about it. we've had a significant home court advantage for a while because of that intimidating presence right on the court (of course our talented teams had something to do with it as well when you have a student body of roughly 27,000, many of which live in the area, there simply is no excuse. what happened to the Krazies?! on a positive note, i am impressed with how many season ticket holders we have now. even as we've bottomed out there's always been a repectable number of people in the regular seats. it's certainly a noticable difference from the last few years. if we could get the students to match the season ticket holder's presence we'd have something again.

Scheduling is a huge issue. We are not the principal tenant in the Cell, so the Wave jumps us for Saturday games. We play in a different house from the Bucks, so we run up against them often. And as a mid-major we have a hard time scheduling teams to visit us in the first place. And while the Cell is a great bvenue, it's not on or near campus.
These are all problems we can do little about at the moment. But as the last couple years proved, winning trumps all of those problems. So for now all we can do is go to the games, encourage our friends to go to the games, and support Rob as he rebuilds a winner. I have no doubt he will.

I just don't see WHY the Wave are the primary tenant.
They have the national profile of a midget's dick

The most important thing is actually the season ticket holders. They bring the consistency in terms of money and attendance. I do think it's a bit of a domino effect as the students are the ones that really bring the energy to the games and that hurts when their numbers are down. They will be back. Nothing do get too down about. I attended an MU game the other week and they could not fill up the lower half of the BC with everyone they had. Lots of dark boxes also. Not great energy either and they look to have a good year. That's what happens this time of year to most teams. Winning cures everything and we are not doing that yet this year. Give it time. I do think Rob is on the right track and we will be seeing more success soon. The journey is the reward. Take a step back and remember where we are starting from this year.
I think we could be the primary tennant if our attendance gets better. I checked the schedules and we play roughly the same amount of home games as the Wave does so that's no excuse. If we can consistently get around 6,000 there we'd be it.

I think there are several factors hurting student attendance. The schedule is a huge one. It was Sunday evening of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
But there really is no excuse for such a small turnout with a student body this large.

NOONE KNOWS WHEN THE GAMES ARE. That and the team isn't very good.

if our student body is incapable of finding out game dates by looking in a paper, checking the internet, or maybe asking someone we've got much bigger problems than poor marketing and a bad basketball team.

I am with PANTHERfan on this one. It's not like the athletic department can tell every individual person on campus when the games are. There is a website, a campus newspaper, the JSonline, friends, schedules at the Pav. This whole blaming the department thing is getting old.
