At this point in time, I could care less if the entire Marquette campus spontaneously combusted and was consumed in a ball of flames of Biblical proportions.
We may share a city with the Gold, but that's really about it. Proximity does not in itself beget a rivalry.
I'm so done with the snobs from Wisconsin Ave. looking down their collective noses at the rest of the peons of the world, in the arena and out. And can we now stop hearing how "classy" Tan Tom the Hypocrite is, since in his world 2 wrongs clearly make 1 right.
If we never play the Gold, I'm fine with that. There are plenty of other schools of better quality than Wisconsin Ave Dental College that are happy to have us on their schedule.
To Tan Tom the Unfrozen Caveman Basketball Coach, crazy fred and all his buddies: Thanks for stopping by. It was nice to see you, but it's time for you to go now. We have important work to do, and you're just in the way now.

You know at first I thought the 4-1 deal was a slap in the face and I was against UWM accepting it on those terms, but after thinking about it, I think UWM should take it. Here's why...
1-$$!! Although I don't know any details, or claim to know any, if the money makes sense...everything else should fall short in comparison and ultimately not matter. And really it'll be better for UWM to play a Big East team than it will for MU to play a mid-major Horizon League team. So to me, it seems UWM is coming up roses both ways!
2-Bragging Rights. If UWM can beat MU once, that'd be enough to satisfy me for awhile.
3-Unimportant Details! If the 2 schools come to an agreement it will end the back-and-forth on this board about who offered a deal first, how long a deal has been on the table and all the other petty bickering over details that none of us truly know. I don't care how many times chicos/crazyfred refers to his Asst. AD friend at MU...I'm not buying that anyone knows the whole truth.
Here's hoping for 5 years of UWM/MU games...

First, money and site (whose home court, i.e.) are only two of the issues. (Very important issues, and unresolved at this point.) There are other things that MU needs to provide if it really wants to play these games. The negotiators know what they are, but they haven't made the ridiculously shallow press releases/stories Rosiak has put out.
Second, even as shallow as the story yesterday was, it was profoundly worthy of the maxim that you should not believe everything you read in the paper. That's twice now. Should we expect the hat trick?
Third, when a poster makes about twelve consecutive posts, you need to realize he is talking to himself like the crazy man in the back row of the bus. And as annoying and pitiful as that is, the last thing you want to do is try to talk to him. We had a guy on the Badger board once who was so pathetic that he posted about 1000 times in three months, without saying anything worthwhile, until finally people realized that if you ignored him he'd sit in his closet and suck his thumb instead. Word to the wise.

This thread might as well be closed....this has gone far off topic and I'm sick of bickering with Marquette fans

The easiest way to fix this thread is to just stop responding to the MU junk and just talk about the topic for which it was intended

Fran short on facts again. 5 consecutive posts, not 12...but hey since when did liberals ever tell the truth on anything...or lawyers...considering you are both you've hit the daily double. LOL ;D

Who friggin cares, it's not going to happen this year, so save the positioning and arguing about who made the deal first, why so-and-so didn't accept the deal, why so-and-so won't accept the current deal, and why when so-and-so who's twice removed from being associated with the school didn't accept and did something bad the current staff should be held accountable.
It's all crap.
MU didn't want to play back then with the proposal, and we don't want to play now with the current proposal.
MU alum and students will never stop looking down at UWM and UWM alum and students will never stop being sensitive to the fact that they do look down at UWM.
So, I hear Northern Iowa is supposed to be good this year.

Actually I don't think they'll be as good as they were last year. They lost some players and their coach left. But we do play them on the opening night of their new arena.

per Whoosh!net "As for national TV, the Horizon League will have three regular-season conference games on the ESPN networks, but surprisingly none will feature the Flames. The games: Wisconsin-Green Bay at Wisconsin-Milwaukee (ESPN2, Jan. 27), Wright State at Detroit (ESPN, Feb. 3) and Loyola at Butler (ESPNU, Feb. 22)." www.uicflamesbasketball.com/news.htm It's nice to see ESPN is going to show a Milwaukee - GB game again this year. Maybe it's just me, but I think as long as 1 team is picked to compete for the HL crown, ESPN will show 1 game from this series to a national audience.

One can assume the Jan. 27 game will be moved up from a 7 p.m. start to sometime in the afternoon.

" A: Todd Rosiak - Good evening, everyone. Let's start off with a question regarding a hot topic among MU and UWM fans. Judging by the amount of emails I receive regarding the proposed MU-UWM series, plenty of people outside the MJS care. It has the potential to become a great cross-town rivalry game. Ever see a Cincinnati-Xavier game on TV? Villanova against St. Joseph's, or any of the other Big 5 teams face off? Of course, there are differences between them all but you get the idea. Tremendous passion, hard-fought games, the whole nine yards. A game between MU and UWM, I believe, would run right along those lines. I hope it happens."
the other rivalry games he mentions, i believe are home-home series. how does a 4-1 facilitate a rivalry when one team only plays 1 game in 5 on their home floor?

After we clean their clock 4 out of 5 times, maybe they'll make it a 1 and 1

Hard to see us beating them 4 out of 5 times. I'm a big fan and I HATE Marquette, but I am realistic.

Fine! 5 out of 5, I thought we might blow one, but if you say so.
