This past year, I was out of town for midnight madness. Can anyone tell me what goes down at MM?

Prior to last year's it was always at the K.C., and consisted of a live band and/or some student karaoke, free pizza, and free t-shirts to kick things off. Then everyone moved into the stands and the men's & women's head coaches each gave a short speech before introducing the players, who then put on a 3-point shooting contest, battle of the sexes style, with 3 women and 3 men all shooting at the same time at each end of the court. And then of course the slam dunk contest to cap off the night. All in all, a good time. From what Paul said, it sounds like last year's wasn't all that great. I can't speak to that personally though, since I was also "out of town".

Not sure what goes on but there's a very cool counter on the Men's BB page at uwmpanthers.com
MM is on October 15 which means that at this point we just
121 days, 8 hours 9 minutes and 2 seconds away
wait
make that 121 days, 8 hours 8 minutes and 30 seconds away....

Crap, I might miss it by at least 2 weeks, unless we get really lucky. My 2nd in a row... oh well. And is the game @ Michigan officially confirmed? Or is it just "insider information" that it will happen. I'm also assuming it's a one-time Buy game, and not something like the 7-for-1 deal poor man signed with his "friend" coach Izzo and MSU

It was downright brutal! The comedian they had was sooooo bad! Left mid way thru, only other thing I really remember is D. Ford biting it on a dunk attempt and the team laughing at him as he limped away

Yeah, I totally agree with you Big D. We're in a long-term, 3 for 1 deal with Madison right now, just like UWGB is, and it sucks. I really hope we try to get out of it when it's up after 2011-12. Till then, they play us @ the Cell in 2007 and 2011.

I will confirm that UAB is in the tourney with you guys. I talked to one of our assistants and he confirmed that UAB will play Washington State in the opening round. UWM will play an opponent that has yet to be determined. He also thought the other team would be a MVC team. I have already posted this info on the UAB board, (BlazerTalk.com) www.ncaabbs.com/forums/uab/phpbb/Looking forward to making the trip up. I'm sure you guys can suggest places to stay, visit, eat, as the tourney draws closer. You guys are more than welcome to visit BlazerTalk and talk some basketball with us.

Blazer, this is wonderful news. It confirms what many have speculated here for some time. Yours is a team I root for on a fairly regular basis. I loved the style of play under Mike Anderson and I look forward to seeing what shape the team takes now that Mike Davis is the coach. I understand that you have landed a quality big for the coming season. There has been much speculation that the fourth team is Creighton. It sounds like a great round-robin.

I must admit I am pretty excited about us playing UAB next year, especially with it being a home game. Creighton would be great to get for the tourney to round out the four teams. Wash St. I'm not thrilled to see but with the logical connection and them being a PAC 10 team I will not complain.
But just curious about the tourney for future yeas if anyone knows. Is the plan to try and hold this as an annual event at the cell with us as hosts? If so are their plans to try and mix in different teams each year from the same conferenes or hopes to just mix it up each year with new teams from new conferences.
I would think idealy we would host this each year with different teams from the same conferences. Good way to build up solid relationships with the teams and the conferences.
Props to Bud or Jeter or whomever had this idea because this is a good one and it looks to be started off strong with the two teams so far.

so by any chance are we obligated to play any or all of these teams in their arenas in '07-'08?

so by any chance are we obligated to play any or all of these teams in their arenas in '07-'08? my thoughts exactly. that would be a killer non con schedule. going from a season where we'll be playing the most home games ever in 06-07, to one of the least in recent memory?

i don't know if Creighton will be able to be apart of our tourney b/c they're participating in the Rainbow Classic which takes place just b4 Christmas @ the Univ. of Hawaii. pretty good lineup they got going for it too. www.hawaiiathletics.com/media/Stats/MBasket/06RC_Bracket.pdfi had heard earlier in the offseason that Central Michigan was a possibility for a home game, maybe they're still in contention to play here?
