I better add my appology to the list to Coach Jeter. I never wanted him to leave and am very glad he has decided to stay.

Guys, you will never be happy as fans unless you realize that for the coaches, it's a business, and just like you would listen to a job offer, they will -- and should. It's a testament to Jeter and to UWM that he's popular.
You would not like the alternative.
Rob will not be the coach at UWM forever. Some day he will either take a different job or he will be fired. That is also true at every other program, essentially. Until such time as colleges start offering guaranteed lifetime contracts, you can't expect coaches to pledge lifetime loyalty.
In the meantime, enjoy the moment. We've got a terrific young coach who is going to bring further prominence and growth to this program while he's here -- however long that may be.

I would like to know why their is so much animosity towards Pearl and recently Jeter....It is business as mentioned above he needs to look out for the best interest of his family...No one should take it personally...and even now he is staying so all those comments seem overzealous

I think the reason everyone was so fired up, was because this is a turning point in our school's program.
We have a lot of scholarships to fill this season. And if Jeter left, most of the groundwork on current recruits would be out the door with him. Leaving a new coach with a difficult task of bringing in quality players.

Sorry Rob, but I hope you decided not to take the job instead of them deciding not to pay you.

I think the toughest pill to swallow for the dedicated fans was that the program would have been in worse shape than when Jeter took over. When Pearl took over the program was on the rise. Pearl increased the popularity of the program. Brought in guys like McCants, Joah Tucker, Boo Davis and when BP left last season the program was in better shape than when he took over. If Jeter would have left, we would have had to scramble to keep guys who were most likely going to come here to play, as well as keep guys like Al, Avo, Kaylan, Messiah, who might transfer...thus leaving the program in rough shape.

Right, why would you want to play for a team, or commit to a team that has a coach who's using you as a stepping stone.

I think what I've learned from this experience is that I should[glow=red,2,300]NEVER LISTEN TO "INSIDER" INFORMATION[/glow]because it's all a bunch of hearsay.

The thing is that people like Bill Johnson want it both ways. They want to fans to get excited, buy tickets, and get emotionally involved but then when it looks like something bad like a coach leaving is happening, they want to fans not to care.
People aren't faucets. They can't turn their emotions on and off like that. I have no comments to apologize for, but I can understand why some people got so upset.

I knew you'd stay so I don't have to apologize but I do want to thank you for staying and making this board tolerable, I can't even imagine what it would be like if had left. Whew that was close. Thanks for staying Rob!

I think the worst of this board was seen yesterday. I think today would have been a day of moving forward and speculation on new coaches if Jeter had accepted or was offered the ISU job.
