I know that no matter what, the Panthers will come out of this good. Just the fact that we have had 3 previous coaches go on the larger schools makes UWM an attractive place for young coaches to come. And I feel eventually one will stay, as the program gets bigger. Comparing our situation with Gonzaga's is silly. They are a private school that can afford to pay the $$$ to keep their coach while UWM is a pubic school, and not even a flagship. Again, with continued success, the money situation will change.

Sorry guys, but I don't think you can equate Rob's situation to BP and Bo. I know it's not a 100% certainty that Rob is gone, but if he does go, his situation and Bo's and BP's situation are apples and oranges. Bo and BP both took big steps in getting this program where it's at. They left this program in a state that was far better than it was when they took over. As much as I hated Bruce for talking about roots in Milwaukee and accepting w/ TN two days later, he left the cupboard fully stocked, and the program with plenty of opportunity to continue to be successful. If Coach (he is still our coach) takes this job, the program will have taken one monumental step backward.
Maybe I'm just jilted due to disappointment, but I was really looking forward to seeing UWM teams with Jeter's fingerprints on them. I thought we could have continued to be successful. Now however, I see it being a major uphill climb to remain successful or even attain success in the next few years if we lose our coach at this juncture. I'd equate Rob leaving at this point to taking a job, then getting an offer from another company you had interviewed with a month or two later, quitting the job you first took and going with the newer job offer. The company you first took the job with stopped their applicant search, probably missed out on other quality individuals because you accepted, (and they accepted elsewhere) and now has to start all over. Well, same thing here people. We could have taken another qualified coach and maintained at least some continuity with the program. Losing Jeter at this point is going to hurt really bad with incoming recruits and maintaining any momentum from this year's run and last.
The funny thing is, I can't blame Coach for looking into this possibility because I'd at least explore it as well. He'd be cheating himself not to at least listen about hte opportunity. I'm just not sure my morals would allow me to leave in this sort of situation, (in fact, I've faced the situation I mention above and decided even though the money was much more for the second offer to stay with the first company) and I'm not saying Rob is not a moral person--he's just in a very tough situation right now.

I agree with your analogy, but I would add, that the company you took the job invested in your search for badly needed new clients and by the time you were replaced, found that they had gone elsewhere.
