Steve Deace, a publisher at cyclonenation.com says according to a reliable source Jeter will be hired at Iowa State in just a mater of time. This comes to no surprise as Pollard has connections with him. He is determined to do anything to make Iowa State basketball what is once was. Even if it means paying all the money for the buyout.

Do some homework Pollard. It's way too easy to just hire your buddies.

if this is true then why did ISU seek permission to talk to Northern Iowa's coach today?

Pollard has met with Rob Jeter and is expected to continue those discussions tonight.
According to once source, figures and expectations have been discussed and an offer could be extended to Jeter as soon as tonight. Please note: This is all preliminary and should be taken with a high level of caution.
UPDATE:
Timing in uncertain at this point but two sources in the athletic department said that final negotiations are taking place between Jeter and Pollard and an announcement is forthcoming.
It is uncertain if an announcement could come as early as tonight but sources indicate it is possible. Unless a negotiaton cannot be reached, it looks like Jeter will be our next head basketball coach.
This from what appears a very reliable source from ISU. Now what guys?

i cant see how they pick up jeter right now. IU hasnt picked up alford yet and mcdermot wants the IOWA job. i dont see how they dont talk to mcdermot before making rob an offer. hes a much better fit for their program IMO. the only reason i think this discussion is even happening is pollard and as sold as he may be on rob how does he convince the whole school after one tournament that rob is the man for them. he had seven seniors that went to the sweet 16 and he was a first year head coach. im not trying to take anything away from him but i cant see him being a better canidate than someone like mcderrmot. either way im tired fo this. it sucks
