That sure happened fast. Makes you kind of wonder what is going on in Ames.

It doesn't say he was offered the job on Sunday, it says he was interviewed on Sunday.

Yes, now it says that ... however, the earlier version of the story had the job offered to him Sunday ... which wouldn't make sense, then why even interview Jeter on Monday?

[glow=red,2,300] SPIN[/glow] Precisely! But, let them spin all they want. We still have our guy and that's what matters most. In Jeter We Trust!

I'd be dissapointed too at missing out on a chance to double my salary and jump to a BCS conference. In any event, I'm glad Pollard allowed us to keep Jeter.

Double your salary? Are you absolutely sure you have your facts straight? Read this morning's J-S, especially the part on the jump page where Bud talks about significantly sweetening the base salary with donor money.

At this point looking at the facts, I am convinced (or maybe just convinced myself) that Jeter turned them down. Why interview Jeter if you have your man and have interviewed him already? Second, it seems that the confirmation of certain wishes Jeter had to grow the program were done and the process of these things were accelerated to allow Jeter to feel like this was a good place for him to stay for the time. Finally, I am glad to see that donors contiune to step up in times like these and can only hope more donors continue to step up to keep growing the program

Why Bud make all the changes he is for Robbie if Robbie wasn't "unofficially" offered the job at ISU? The spin machine at ISU is at full speed so that it doesn't come out publicly that they couldn't lure a coach from "itty bitty" Milwaukee to the Big 12. that would really hurt their rep, and enhance ours tremendously. I'm sure Robbie doesn't it want that known either, since Jamie is a good friend, and he wants Jame to succeed. The timing of the alleged Sunday offer doesn't make any sense at all when put into context of the entire series of events. A "no thanks" from Jeter does, however. This is a bigger day for the program than many of us may realize right now. We beat out a BCS school for a coach. That's no small deal.
