I don't think Robbie honestly thinks he is not loved at UWM. He had masses of people coming up to congratulate him at the Selection Party. It looked like he was a rock star for Pete's sake. Furthermore, if he has time to read this board, I would be stunned. As for the posts early in the year, there's nothing like the anonymity of the internet to bring out the butt head in some people. And all the negativity was pretty much shouted down, as I recall. I agree with all the points in this post. I do think that the reference about him "reading the board" was in regards to Bill Johnson. No, he was talking about what Jeter has heard and how it's affected him.

I'm very surprised to see Jeter's name already being mentioned. What exactly has he done? He inherited a very talented team of Seniors, got them to buy into his system, and had a successful year along with a first round win that half the nation picked.
Has he done anything to truly build a program as a D I coach? Not yet.
I really don't think he's going to get an offer from one of these schools based on one season's success with a bunch of players, most of whom he didn't recruit as a head coach.
But, IF I were Jeter and got an offer from a big-time school, I wouldn't think twice about going if I felt that school could contend. His stock will not be hotter for quite some time IMO. We're going to struggle to win the conference next year, BP left this year and became a monstrous success, so essentially he's riding that momentum as well.

I agree with all the points in this post. I do think that the reference about him "reading the board" was in regards to Bill Johnson. No, he was talking about what Jeter has heard and how it's affected him. Uh, the reference was to "I wonder if someone has been reading this board." Bill Johnson has registered and posted on this board. That's what I was talking about. The reference was "i'd be very surprised if Jeter had the time to read the board." I doubt Jeter knows this exists and therefore revert to my statement that the reference was in regards to Bill Johnson POSSIBLY reading this board.

Jeter would be nuts not to take a higher paying job if offered to him. One year under his belt on a senior dominated squad and he can get the money? I think he is/will be a great coach, but to turn down really good money that UWM might not put up would be a mistake on his part. It is all about timing and I think if offered the timing would be now.

You really think that Coach Jeter would be advised to take this job? When he's 36 years old and hasn't had the chance to build anything here at Milwaukee? When there was just a $43 million renovation/addition done to the Klotsche Center and he has no ties to the Ames area other than the former associate A.D. in Madison? His wife is from Milwaukee, his family is from Chicago and he's spent his entire adult life in the state of Wisconsin. All of his recruiting ties are to this area. He's been here one year. Why would he leave for what would be about $200,000 more. Is that enough to uproot a family?

I believe Jeter is already vested in the State of Wisc retirement program. As for the person b****ing about people picking up what was said on this board. Yes you have a right to b****, but don't complain if some one repeats what you said!!

In today's Des Moines Register, Pollard says that he's seeking someone who is not looking for unlimited financial resources and who understands Ames, Iowa. It appears that the offer would roughly double Rob's existing base salary. If Bud is happy with the direction of the program (i.e. recruiting, fan turnourt), I'm confident Rob's salary will be raised.

Jeter's name has been linked to the Iowa St. job, mainly due to his connection to Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard, a former deputy athletic director at Wisconsin.
Jeter spent four years as an assistant coach in the Badgers men's basketball program, which was administered by Pollard.
Hopefully this connection between Jeter and Pollard won't pull Coach Jeter to Iowa St.
As it's been said...it's not what you know, it's who you know.
The popular thought about Jeter having not proved himself because he had a senior led team might not matter much to someone who worked closely with Jeter during his time at UW.

Jamie Pollard is an Oshkosh North graduate and recent addition to the school's hall of fame.

FYI-
The coaches do know this board exists, and they do read it. While Rob does not read it, to my knowledge, I am sure that he is very aware of its existence.
Also, what Bill Johnson says is correct. Rob has gotten VERY LITTLE respect and support this year, compared to the support given to Bruce Pearl. Its unfair, and it sucks, but it is true. just 2 months ago, Rob was still getting angry and insulting voice mail messages left for him ON A VERY REGULAR BASIS.
I sincerely hope that attitudes about Rob Jeter have changed in the last few weeks, but please do not think that it has been all roses and rainbows for this man this year. He was hired into a very difficult situation this year, and has handled himself with tremendous class and integrity.
Let's make sure that we all show our appreciation.
