Hey guys, Gator here. Looking forward to our matchup Saturday, should be a good one. I know a little about you guys(Davis, Tucker, Tigert, etc), but maybe ya'll could fill me in a little more. Here's an overview of our team for those who haven't been able to see us yet:
Starting Five:
PG: Taurean Green (6-0 Sophomore) SG: Lee Humphrey (6-2 Junior) SF: Corey Brewer (6-8 Sophomore) PF: Joakim Noah (6-11 sophomore) C: Al Horford (6-9 Sophomore)
Bench:
PF/C: Chris Richard (6-8 Junior) PF/C: Adrian Moss (6-9 Senior) PG/SG: Walter Hodge(6-0 Freshman)
Green is what make this team go. You can tell he's a coach's son because he's usually very smart with the basketball. He's an excellent passer and has an uncanny ability to nail thee three off the dribble. When he's not in the game, we tend to struggle a bit offensively.
Humphrey is our dead-eye shooter. I'm pretty sure he led the league in 3-pt pct. (46%). He's not a great driver, but if you give him a look, he'll nail it. Sometimes, we don't get him into the flow of the offense, but he can go on big rolls from downtown.
Brewer is just a freak athlete. Not a good ballhandler and a decent shooter, but he excels in transition or on the drive. He was Co-Defensive POY in the SEC this year, and I'm assuming we'll put him on Tucker.
Noah has gone from riding the pine last year to being our best player down the stretch this year. He's not all that strong, but he's one of the quickest, fastest big men I'ver ever seen. He runs the floor extremely well and often gets dunks in transition. He's an excellent post defender as well.
Horford does all the dirty work for us. He's almost always around 10 & 10 each game and is very physical underneath and a good defender.
Go Gators!

The first poster regretted to mention that Joakim is also the new most hated player in the SEC. This title used to be held by former UF player Matt Walsh. During the game expect to see him jumping around and pumping his chest quite a bit. We love his enthusiasm but understand that you guys probably will think he looks a little ridiculous. He's not doing it at you so please don't take offense to it, he's just very passionate and does it for the Gator Nation. He also has a very multi cultural background (his father is the tennis great Yannick Noah and his mother was a beauty queen in Europe) and he speaks four languages. I think we can all agree that he's not the most conventional looking player in the NCAA but thats ok. I just hope that you all keep the talk of our players to just their game. There's been many wrong statements made about people (especially Noah) and I think we can all agree to keep things friendly.
If theres one thing I would want to tell you about our players is that they are all very very dedicated. As some of you might have seen Noah was pretty much punched in the face at the end of the second Tennessee game and his tooth was knocked out. This was the third time that game that he was bleeding (two cuts on his face earlier) and he had to be held back by the coaches because he wanted to finish the game. Corey Brewer played the second half of the first Tenn. game after hurting his ankle, Hump tried to get in the game asap after dislocating his shoulder (not very good news from our top 3 point shooter). We are all very proud of our guys and love them to death for what they've done this year. I'm really excited to learn more about your team and would love to see some of you on our boards posting some helpful information! Let's hope for a good game, free of injuries, and a good playing time (late so we can all sleep in after St. Patty's day tomorrow!) Good luck and Go Gators!

Noone has really spoken about our team, so here goes... Joah Tucker was the preseason conference player of the year prediction. He struggled a bit in picking up the offense, took too many outside shots, but wound up having a great season overall. He's 6'5 or 6'6, built like a truck, and quick. He's produced a lot of matchup nightmares due to his quickness, strenght and athleticism. Adrian Tigert is the glue to this team. He does absolutely everything for us...rebounds, passes, scores, hits outside shots when needed, hustles. He does a lot of little things that aren't necessarily in the box score, but we wouldn't be anywhere the team we are without him. He's also a very intelligent player. Boo Davis is our main outside threat. He's really done a great job in the last year in become a slasher when needed as well. Last year, he was pretty much a rythm shooter, getting open looks outside the arc, but has really been able to create his own shots by driving and slashing as well. Chris Hill is the point guard for the team. He's short, but has the heart of a really, really big animal. He'll dive, scratch, claw, and wind up somehow scoring ten points before you know it. He used to push it too much, but has matured and really grown into a great point guard. Jason McCoy is the other guy who's a big part of the team that won't show up in the box score. 6'9, athletic, and an "energy guy." He'll usually guard the inbounds pass on the press, get a number of hustle rebounds, and any points he scores will be gravy. Those are our starters, and they're all seniors. The bench consists of Avery Smith, a backup guard that's one of our best defenders and has grown into a decent scorer off the bench. Sometimes he gets out of control and costs us a possession or two, but he's really settled down since the beginning of the season. Mark Pancratz, a senior backup guard won't score much, but he'll annoy the shizzle out of you. Another hustle guy who when he scores is gravy. Allen Hanson is a backup guard with a nice shot. Derrick Ford is our big beef off the bench. Another senior with a big frame who's capable of going off for 10 points off the bench. You may also see Kevin Massiah, a JC transfer slasher who's a very intelligent player. He's been hurt, and I haven't seen him play in the last three games. Additionally, Michael Bendall occasionally gets some time, depending on the matchups. Tyrone Young is another backup guard who may see some time. He's a scorer who's struggled to pick up the system. Thanks for the info on your team. I hope it's a helluva game. I have some very good friends in Denver who went to Florida, and they called me right after the UWM game to congratulate me. We'll probably watch the game together, give each other mad crap, and hopefully both teams will play great games.. May the best team win. T

Thanks for the info! Sounds like it's going to be a really great game! Someone mentioned that you start all seniors, and have a lot of 22-24 year olds? Is that true? If so it should be a really interesting match between them and our sophomores! We are just all hoping that they stick around until their senior year so we can have a great senior starting lineup for once (we seem to have a problem with players leaving for the NBA, David Lee who's now with the NY Knicks was the only one who left last year that used all of his eligibility, and he's doing pretty well despite their down year so we're pretty happy!) Happy St. Patty's everyone! Oh and thanks for the polite comment. Down here in the SEC everyone loves to hate on the Gators and make up stories about how we yell at them and make their kids cry, so it's nice to see a fan base that we can just discuss things with and not get all in a ruckus!

Every single one of our starters is a 5th year senior..so they are all at least 22 if not 23 now...and we bring one more 5th year off the bench and just another sr....

I can understand now why so many SEC fans hate the Gators. A 22 point lead with 3 minutes left and you leave in your starters all of whom apparently feel that going for the 3 with lots of time left on the shot clock is called for.
Winning isn't enough? Humilation is the order of the day?
