That's garbage. You had 24 point lead less than four minutes to go and he didn't take out his big starters until 1:18 left in the game. That's really classless. You can't tell me that your subs would have finished the game with less than 12 to 18 point win. Must have taken UWM +7.

By the way, anytime your team would like to make a return trip to Milwaukee, we would be more than happy to have them. Next year's schedule is looking a bit crowded, but in a few years (when Noah and Brewer have left for greener pastures), it would be a wonderful renewal.

From the looks of the posts here one would think I pretty much stand alone on this but so be it.
No I didn't bet on the game. And no I don't think UWM was robbed, cheated or any such thing. The more talented team won and deserved to win.
But I DO think that in life it's not just what you do it's also how you do it. In general I'd say that anyone who thinks those five Seniors will feel the same way about a 22 point loss as they might of about a 12 point loss have never played organized sports. There are exceptions of course but I doubt there are many.
I've coached myself (although not BB) and I've pulled players for trying to show off and run up the score (even subs). I've always believed that the object is to win the game not to humilate, not to kick an opponent when he's obviously down and unable to get again.
We've all seen Ryan, Pearl, and Jeter do that too. We've all seen our Panthers hold the ball as long as possible with 20 point leads and five or six minutes to go. Remember the Youngstown State game? Most of the Cell wanted 100 but Jeter reigned them in and said so on his TV show.
Many things have changed in sports but the concept that once an opponent is beaten you should let up shouldn't be one of them. It's that "I want my stats and "I want to be on ESPN" attitude that makes it impossible to put together an American all-star team for international competition with any hope that they will win.
Barry Alveraz said "First and foremost, Coaches are teachers." What lesson did the Florida players learn yesterday? Did they learn to treat their opponents as human beings with dignity? Or did they learn to just take what they can get as long as they can get it?
It's called sportsmanship. I've always been proud that our Panthers play with it even if some others don't and even more others don't have a clue as to what it means.

i doubt many fans who were at the game could see this but towards the end of the game maybe 3 min we were yelling at the ref over a blown call and noah turned around and blew us a kiss. totally unsportsmanlike, the we (band) couldn't have been more pissed off. i'll have to rewatch the game today to get you an exact time. the majority of gator fans were cool, but the players are thugs.
but outside of this game and inparticular this incident, the people and city of jacksonville couldn't have been nicer and overall was an enjoyable experience.

I saw him blow the kiss on TV. I assumed it was towards our fans in recognition for being so supportive! Noah has had to take a lot of grief from opponents fans this year so it was most likely not directed at you but if it was it would have been one of those "in the heat of the moment" type of responses. I think unsportsmanlike would have been the finger! And our guys are far from being thugs - smelling like sour grapes. But to respond to milswports last post --- I understand how you feel I think ALL of us have been on the front-side of a beating like this and take everything that happens as a slap in the face or more insult added to injury. BUT 4 min IS an eternity in BB and taking out our starters with that much time left would have been totally stupid. 10 points could have been shaved off in less than 2 minutes easily. Our Football coach did a similar thing at halftime once this past season and we nearly lost the game in the second half after being up over 40points. And as far as taking kids out because you think they are running up the score (especially subs) why??? A kid finally gets to play and can score easily and you're going to tell him _ DON'T score we don't' want to hurt their feelings? Sometimes things are what they are and you just have to move on. I registered just to say this, not sure I'll be back on Good luck next year!

Against Youngstown State, we brought in our subs early (we were winning by close to 40) and I seem to recall EVERYONE jacking 3's, trying to dunk, etc.
It wasn't poor sportsmanship then, it's not poor sportsmanship now.
BTW, congrats to Florida. Your team is WAY better than a lot of people have given it credit for.

Thanks for the kind words UWM fans. You guys have been nothing but class and I'd love to see a rematch of our teams in the coming years. You guys may be down a little next year, losing 7 seniors, but I'm sure you'll be back in the thick of things very soon.

Thanks, Gator. Florida looks like a Final Four-caliber team to me.

We didn't have a 40 point lead it was like 26 or so when JR sent in the subs and there were like 8 minutes to go. Yes they did go for threes but unlike the Gators they milked the clock before launching them. I can even accept not subbing with a lead of 24 and less than four minutes to go, but jacking up threes with only a few clicks off the clock is much harder to understand. And it's not just how I felt about THIS game, you may remember my comments about a HS girl who set a scoring record getting like 90 some points in a game where the opponent got like 30 some.

I just logged on to say this, but Noah has to be the ugliest player in the NCAA. I don't know if I'll be back, but good luck next year.

As far as sportsmanship, maybe they were sending a message to their next opponent, maybe they were being jerks, maybe they were impatient and didn't feel like running their offense anymore. It doesn't really matter, they still whooped our butts. There's more important things to worry about like brackets and beer ;D
