To steal the title from Frank Zappa's greatest hits disc, "Have I offended someone?"
I check this forum everyday to get feedback from you because along with the Athletic Department and the team, I work for you.
Most of you probably didn't hear the game last night because you were at the game. A handful of tongue in cheek comments that I made about Butler have been blown completely out of proportion. To those of you that have listened to our games in the past, I did nothing different. If you listen to the game, I think I had much more positive than negative to say about Butler, and that's the way it should have been. They're good.
I'm not trying to make any excuses for last night's broadcast or get myself off the hook. It was a good broadcast, very similar to any other Panther game.
The web cast is another example of how the Horizon League continues to grow and I think it's a great idea. Along with my voice on all of the Panthers home games you will hear voices from other Horizon League teams, like Chris Denari at Butler, Matt Dery at Detroit, Chris and John at Wright State, Chuck Friemund at Green Bay and others. These guys are all similar to me, not exactly the same, but similar. We all give an accurate call of the game, but we would all like to see the team we work for win. We've developed relationships with coaches, players, and administrators and we've seen all of the work that goes into each game. We want them to succeed and we're happy when it happens.
While I would never make any demands to those that frequent this board, I have a request. When put in the same situation that the Butler fans were put in last night, I'd like it if you'd take it easy on the other team's announcers. Just like I don't work for Butler, these broadcasters don't work for you. You don't have to agree with them, but understand their perspective. I'd also rather you don't engage the folks from Butler in any discussion about me. You're free to do whatever you like. Just a request.
While I doubt that I'll post very often, I'll continue to check the site every day to get your comments, critiques, and questions. While I continue to evolve as a broadcaster, I don't plan on changing a thing about the Panther broadcasts. Thanks for your support of Panther basketball.
