I've been waiting for that for a while! The young guys looked good; Jeter had all of his reserves playing the last 10 minutes.

Yep Wooten is a stud all right. He's the stud of garbage time.

As long as Marquette won't play UWM, it sure is nice to play these same teams after they're done playing Marquette. That way, you know what you need. So tell me about the game (second one I've missed in three-plus years).

We had our usual slow start. Jeter made some adjustments, we caught up and pulled away by the half and blew them out in the second half. We were up by 28 at one point and won by 23 (three more than that other school beat them by)
What I noticed tonight was Tucker. He wasn't much of a scoring factor until about the 8 minute mark in the second half. Just after I mentioned to my friends that if Joah didn't start scoring more he isn't going to make the NBA with or without a jump shot, he began to go inside and dominate the court.
I think he scored like 10 points in like three minutes and then came out of the game. It makes you wonder what he could do if he played like that throughout.

Thanks, sport. This is actually encouraging: Joah evidently still hasn't found his stride and the team has by and large been playing very well starting with the second half against St. Louis. Nice!

Some quick thoughts:
1. Jeter pressed nearly the whole game, even when we were up 27 midway through the 2nd half. I like it.
2. We had a couple of runs - one in the 1st half, one in the 2nd - where we just expoded and scored a bunch of points off the press, fast break, and hit open 3's. Boo had it going both times.
3. Joah really struggled with foul problems and his jumper most of the game before picking it up later in the 2nd half. He stuck with it and played with confidence even when things weren't going well. Things started turning around for him once he started taking it to the hole.
4. McCoy was very active. He got a couple of dunks in the half-court set on some nice looks by Tigert and Tucker. Pancratz also brought some intensity into the game on the defensive end when they were down early.
5. Wooten could play for anybody. He's strong, quick, smooth, textbook jumper, penetrates at will, just the whole package. Thank God he's not on a Horizon League team so we don't have to play him again.

I forgot to mention Young. He came as a sub but he made some nice moves. He showed a really smooth shot tonight and Mc Coy continues to look better. AT was of course AT. He had a solid game. Chris Hill was in double figures as well.

I think it might be time to give some props to McCoy. He has gone from not deserving many minutes a few weeks ago to being the starting center. He seems to have found his role on the team is has done a very good job filling it. He hits the boards, gets clean up points and moves well in the offense.
My friend and I were saying the same thing about Tucker just before he got it going. Its nice to see us thrashing these poor teams without one of our biggest offensive threats doing much.
Where have all the Avery Smith lovers gone? Not that I'm glad he is not playing that well, but it is kind of nice to see the talk him being the greatest player talk end.
It was also nice to see Young come in for the garbage minutes and not just jack everything up but rather stay in the offense. He sure does have a sweet looking shot and is so quick with his step to the hoop.

Teddy you are absolutely correct that Jason McCoy deserves recognition for his play. His early struggles most likely had lots to do with learning a new system, and playing much better competition. Fear still grips me when I see Jason try to dribble the basketball, but he does have a good sense around the basket.
He isn't going to be the big scorer like Adrian around the hoop, but he does get his job done. His length is also great for use with the press. He always seems to be getting his hands in there to cause a steal, and is, in my opinion, finally earning his minutes as opposed to being necessary because of his height.

I ain't dead yet and neither is Avo. Just hard to say anything positive about a guy playing like ass right now.

I told ya Wooten is a stud, the man can score it Wooten's nothing more than a trash-talking b****. he scores a 3 and then taunts McCoy (who was waiting to be subbed-in) while his team is down by at least 15 points. Hopes or as i called him, Oliver Miller, is probably one of the most worthless p.o.s. i've seen on a basketball court EVER. i'm gonna go out on a limb and say these refs were worse than the UW game b/c at least they knew how to screw us over instead of blowing the whistle,..............pausing............., looking at each other, someone makes a decision and since the others don't know what's happening just go along w/ it. simply ridiculous. "Suck it up Titboy" was easily the funniest thing i heard being yelled tonight from the student section.

The Big Mac chant while Hopes was at the FT line shooting in the first half was pretty damn funny.
