Step into a crackerbox gym in the middle of nowhere against a decent team that can make its season beating you. This is going to be every team we face this year; except Memphis and maybe Wisconsin. Who else that we play is coming off of a sweet 16 year returning 4 or 5 starters and has some well deserved hype? Don't make excuses tonights game was one this team should win even on an off night. That is what makes good teams, they find a way to win.

First, I'm really looking forward to the SLU game this weekend. I think the boys are ready to whack somebody. Second, I wasn't on this board much last year but was there the same babyish b****ing going on aftyer the early season losses to Wisconsin and Valpo? Get a grip, for God's sake. These players are good. This coach is good. This is going to be a fun year. If you want to jump ship then do so, but don't expect any respect when you come back because the Panthers are winning again. Noted, now get a grip and let people have an opinion. People can have an opinion even if it's not good. And if it's not good that doesn't make it b****ing. And I'm sorry but I've had no fun so far this year, nada. I was anxious after the second exhibition game. We are now three games into the regular season and I'm very anxious. They put up some horrible shots tonight and I don't understand bombing the three as many times as they did so early in the game.

Like I said, I wasn't on this board much last year. I'm not sure how much I'll be on it this year if this is the level of basketball "knowledge." Run and press against an athletic team when you're in desperate foul trouble all night? Absurd.
This is your team, these are your players, this is your coach. And you want to abandon them after two tough road losses? Bud Haidet did pretty well by this program hiring Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl. So now he's an idiot who doesn't recognize coaching talent?
Good lord what whiners.

To try to implement the swing offense to a team that was excellent at motion seems rather silly to me. Maybe use it selectively, but if they are setting up constantly in the swing (off made/missed baskets, sideouts, ect..) wouldn't be the best call IMO. Take a bunch of seniors and implement a brand new offense....why?

Fran,
You're missing a very big point here. Tech was like 3-10 from the line when we got back into it. They let us back into it with their horrible free throw shooting as much as (if not moreso) than we got ourselves back into it.
This was a horrid game we should have won.
Joah needs to stop jacking 3's. He needs to play like the 6'5 quick, athletic, built like a truck beast that he is. Sitting outside the arc and putting up at least 6 treys and missing them all is not his game. Leave that to Boo.
And speaking of Boo, he had a helluva game. Was good to see him get his game on.
AT had a solid game as well.
Hansen in with 90 seconds left...hmm...is he a good option at this point of the game? (even with Hill fouled out) Not so sure about that.
No press whatsoever. At least throw it in occasionally and try to create some tempo. Especially when you're down late.
Free throws are the only reason we were in this game. Both ours and Tech's. They were horrid and we shot well from the line.
Based on our performance in all our games thus far, I'm really re-thinking how good we're going to do.
This team cannot survive playing half court sets when your best offensive player is sitting outside the arc when he should be inside either posting up a small forward, or sitting outside ready to take a first step past a slower power forward.
Last year, we came on when we had 3 1/2 options. (counting AT as a half option) Boo, Joah, Ed, and AT could all step up and score last year. This year, we have inconsistent Boo, but looking better as of late, Joah playing horrible against an opponent I think he could have taken to school, AT playing solid and no other real offensive option.
We won't go far with 2 options on any given night. Boo and Joah need to step up every game. Massiah would be nice to "step into" that 3rd or 4th guy role.
Did Young even play tonight?
Gotta go, the clue phone may be ringing, and it's for all of us.

Save your great knowledge of basketball and all the great things you know from "people close to the program" for someone else. The run at the end of the game impressed me though, that's for sure.

Actually NOT...The Valpo game we were in right until the end...The UWM vs UWGB game last year was a GREAT game..I was at the game and it was one of the best games I have been at in a while...
Yes, we shot the ball well in the tourney BUT we also did a lot of running and gunning which created wide open shots for our guys...We did things that made our team better and we played a brand of basketball that played to the strengths of our players....Jeter ball DOES NOT DO THAT...I am not saying it is a bad style since I have seen it work several times but this is not a group that can be effective running such a slow down type of game relative to what they ran in previous years

BBFran: You have no way of knowing, but to inform you, I have a VERY solid basketball background and what I have seen is unimpressive to say the least.
The main points of emphasis from the coaches as related in the pregame:
Score down low...FAIL control the glass...FAIL force turnovers....FAIL
Not good preparation in my opinion.
Ask yourself this...if the team on Wisconsin Ave had lost to Tenn Tech, would you not be amused???
ARE YOU NOT AMUSED!!!!!!

You don't seriously think its Robbie's design to have Joah floating around jacking threes, do you? As noted above, we shot horribly. But you can score points even when you're shooting badly if you go to the line, and we did, once we stopped taking stupid shots.
And as for the press, Jeter used it when he could but with the surreal number of fouls called how could he have used it more?
Sometimes fans want what they want without considering what really happened in the game. I'm seeing a lot of that here tonight.
We've lost on the road to a team that might be national top five, and to a very tough mid-major with an immense home court adantage. Sound familiar? And everyone wants to throw in their chips!?
May I humbly suggest that all you b****ers and moaners and whiners keep your mad on and get your asses to the Cell on Saturday night to cheer your team? I'll sure as hell be there.

Fran...NO one is jumping ship...Everyone is still on board but many of us are frustrated because we all were here last year and have been on board for many years and watched this program grow into what the nation saw last March...
It is personal for some of us...Some of us have been there since the Cobb era and watched the team suffer and grow..
I suppose we sohuld have expected trash like this to come jump on the bandwagon after a good year and national recognition...You have posted sh*t on this board...Some of us do take this very personal and do have very high expectations for this team whether you can recognize that or not

Fran...nothing personal, but if you want blind love, go elsewhere. We are realists here, and I have attended EVERY minute of EVERY game this year (no leaving early dfor Packer games, either), includinng 2 UGLY games against D3 teams.

It's too soon to say Jeter Ball won't work. As I said before they've been open alot and haven't been hitting those shots.
Teams do go through cold spells, let's hope this drought ends soon.
Also I agree with the guy who pointed out that Bud makes good hires. (Not just in Men's BB by the way)
As majorly disappointing as this is, let's have some faith for awhile longer.

You said the game did not give us many chances to press...Thats the difference between last year and this year....Last year we controlled the tempo and we made the opportunities to press and run that uptempo style of ball...Any chance we had to press we did...WE pressed made shots, made FTs, rebounds...You name it...We did it...Rob Jeter is not allowing this team to play that way...When we pressed we forced TO's which created points for our team which allowed us to stay in that press and style of basketball..We cant get into it and it will seem as though there are not opportunities when we play this style of ball

Not to mention that it appears as though they are afraid to take shots that are open early in a possesion, becuase he will immediately sit them for 5 minutes.
Like a 3 year old gets a time out.
