Ok so I have now become angry. I have seen too many of our players at least trying to fly free. They are open for transition and yet we slowly bring it up time after time. The one time this game we actually pushed the ball, Boo Davis ran the length of the court and drew a foul. He was immediately benched...again.
Have we practiced against a press in practice? No way was this team prepared. I realize we aren't as talented but why? Boo? the press that isn't a press? the lack of any transition game?
I will give Jeter til St. Louis to clean this mockery up but after that I will be laying into him the whole year. This cannot and will not happen.

I agree with the last post. Say goodby to uptempo hoops, hello to the halfcourt set. I had high hopes for Jeter but it seems like he has completely taken away our strength of running. Also, Memphis has a whole heap of freshman, yet we haven't pressed at all. Seems kinda odd.

Not playing well at all, but to address a couple things. First, if we tried to run the floor with this Memphis team, we'd lose by 40 easily. They are more athletic, quicker and a hell of a lot bigger than we are. Second, this is not a good game for us to press on. Their guards are too talented and even their forwards handle the ball well. Finally, while I'm not a fan of slowing the game down too much, it had to be done here. It's more a matter of execution than anything. They've gotten some good looks, just not hitting them. Also, why in the world Bendall and Tigert are trying to score on post up moves is beyond me. They need to learn to kick it out for open looks.
Itsasekritt, Boo probably isn't playing in large part due to Avery Smith. Avery's having a good game, Boo isn't. It's as simple as that.
Overall, just not a good game. But, much what I expected.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever seen. People need to accept the fact that RJ is the coach, not BP. We're not going to play the same style we did last year. Accept it.

UWM could have had Dean Smith or John Wooden as their coach for this game and they still would have lost, they just flat out played against a better team. Let Jeter play against some level competition before you start trying to send him packing.

Exactly now we are Wisconsin, slow boring and not winning. Our team was recruited to push the ball up the floor and be athletic, Jeter's offense or lack there of doesn't work and is hard to watch. With all the substitutions the offense or defense could not get into a rhythm. The players looked as confused as their coach.

C'mon guys, what do you expect?....it's the 1st game of the season, you played the 12th ranked team in the country, and you shot horribly. Had you shot even just 35%, this could've been much closer.
I'm here to say "Have patience"....there are many games to be played and you guys are easily the best in the HL this year....just win the conference games, get back to the tourney, and really should you expect any more than that 1 year after losing Pearl and McCants?

As someone said above, Memphis was just that much better. We didn't lose because of the style or the substitutions or the coaching -- we lost because we didn't value the ball and didn't execute on offense, and couldn't handle Memphis's size and quickness. We won't be alone in the last but we can work to correct what we didn't do well. This was just a bad, bad matchup for us in the first game. Too bad. Now we move on and see what we can do in the next. By the way, Ryan and Jeter's first Wisconsin team looked painfully bad the first month of the season. Then it won the Big Ten for the first time in 47 years. The season didn't just end -- it just started.

I don't even know what to say..........
I am not disappointed in the game, Memphis is a hell of a team, I am amazed at some of you fans.....
6th man you gotta relax. Since when has Wisconsin been a non-winning program? That's just an ignorant comment. Everyone knew what style Jeter would bring to the program, and he was hired for a reason, give him a chance to coach. And if all your gonna do is complain, then stop watching. I never saw Jeter look "confused". Plain and simple they missed a ton of shots, (memphis is a very long team) and players like Ford, and Boo Davis, need to step up, that's out of Jeter's control.
All in all, it was a good first game to ask for. No, UWM didn't win, but maybe this will light the fire that they need. Lets just all see what the rest of the season has to offer...
GO PANTHERS

Exactly now we are Wisconsin, slow boring and not winning. Jeter coached at Wisconsin under Bo Ryan, who has a record of 93-37 at Wisconsin, so to say "not winning" and comparing them to Wisconsin makes no sense at all.

Did i just step on the UIC message board. Fire jeter? Heckel your own Coach? I honestly didnt think any of us woud jump ship or turn into idiots. realize what just happened, we got taught a lesson by a very very good (hence #12 in the country) basketball team.
The NCAA basketball season is about upsetting Top 25 teams in March, not in November.
if you are willing to give up now. please stay at home when we are doing great and winning the confrence at the end of the year.

The not winning I was referring to would be the game we just lost. Yes Wisconsin has a good record, that is because Bo Ryan recruited players that could run a slow controlled offense. We do not have that and thus we got embarrassed and lost the game.

58 people on the board! Nice. Last year first game we would have had 5-10. That's one plus of tonight's game (which was horrid).
My guess is that we will see gradual improvement. No one will want to play us in March.
Later, UWMfreak
