LOOKING AT THE MUSKIES
Lakeland University finished 6-19 overall last season and went 4-14 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. Sam Schroeder begins his eighth season with the program and is just one year removed from seeing his team finish 10th nationally in NCAA Division III by averaging 87.0 points per game. Schroeder's team also led the NACC in three-pointers made for the fifth time in six years and finished ninth nationally in Division III with 10.7 triples per game. Leading scorer Cam Jaeger (19.0 ppg last season) has graduated after leading the team in scoring all four years of his career while finishing 18th in school history with a total of 1,388 points. Asanjai Hunter (13.0 ppg) is the top returning scorer for the Muskies, with the team bringing back three of its top four scorers from last season with Isaiah Hammond (12.2 ppg/team-leading 7.8 rpg) and Brayden Kennedy (11.6 ppg) also set to roll.
SERIES HISTORY
Monday night's contest will be the first between the two programs on the hardwood since 1989, back before MKE's move to the NCAA DI level. That game saw the Panthers prevail by a final score of 125-79 (1/24/1988), which bumped Milwaukee's lead in the all-time series to 8-4. The first-ever contest in the series was played back in 1965 (a 95-84 Muskie win on 12/21/1965 in a game played in a tournament in Oshkosh).
