How will we ever become a consistent Top 100 program with this kind of schedule? We won't.

Lol maybe we should wait until there's a non-conference schedule before moaning about the direction of the program due to its non-conference schedule. Direct quote from Lundy from the schedule announcement last fall: "As our tenure goes along, we will make sure we increase the difficulty."

I sincerely hope that no one is construing any of these legitimate concerns as whining. There are several red flags on the topic given what Bart himself has said. I enjoy and appreciate how much he has transformed our program in a very short time, but realize that we still have a long way to go from 18 D-1 wins and a 210 NET. It's really all about expectations, and mine (and I'm sure others) remain high.

Fair, and I agree the non-conference schedule needs to improve. But I'm willing to give Bart the benefit of the doubt to put something better together when he isn't also building a roster and coaching staff together from scratch. It sounds like Mike Winans did the bulk of the work scheduling last year. Hopefully Bart will take the lead on that this year. As for the red flags, he himself also said the schedule would improve, so I'll wait to see what happens.

Getting the job in March of 2022 you are basically screwed when it comes to scheduling the way you want for games 8 months later.
I don't want to say anything that Lundy never said in terms of playing non D1 school. Not sure his thoughts on that.
I personally wish we could find a way with boarder states for h/h series.
Last, Panther season tickets are dirt cheap. Yet, 5 games at the Klotsche Center was terrible. Hard to feel comfortable in your home arena when 5 of your home games were not played at UWMPA.

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm nearly certain that Bart said we need to play as many home games as possible. Given the challenges of getting home games, I simply don't agree with that. Let's stick our necks out and build our brand outside of Milwaukee ... and get a whole lot tougher in the process.

Utah St is a great case study for how to schedule. Face and beat top mid majors in the non con. That’s how they got to 20 in the NET and deserving of an NCAA at large. They played Bradley (we should too) Oral Roberts (yep). They played WCC teams like Santa Clara, San Fran, LMU (it doesn’t have to be the Zags and St Mary’s. They scheduled one PAC 12 in Washington St.
For us , if a Big East etc. wants to give us a 2-1, we should consider. Otherwise, 1-1 with top mid majors is the way.

I know that Coach Lundy indicated he wants home games in the non conference schedule, but it also should be noted that he seemed to like that the game at Iowa State paid for the MTE in Milwaukee. In other words, I don’t think he’s against playing tough buy games too.

Panthers fans always complain about more home games and non D-1 teams on the schedule. Unless the program's revenue starts increasing considerably, I'm not sure we can't have the former without the latter. If we want to use YSU's schedule as an example to match, they had 2 less home games than MKE AND STILL had 2 non-D1 games (MKE had 3). Per NET rankings, YSU's non-con SOS was 353(!) whereas MKE's was 72.
Assuming Lundy is no longer under any scheduling obligations from the Baldwin error, I look forward to seeing what he can do moving forward.

You're right, now that I actually look at YSU's schedule in detail, they were not a good example to use. All of the other points made in this thread remain valid however - and as important as ever

Is the Rhode Island game being made up next year or is it just cancelled and done with?
The only game I can think of that we have locked down for the non-conference next year is @ St. Thomas (MN), which is not a bad game at all.

Isn't Chattanooga returning last year's visit?

For us , if a Big East etc. wants to give us a 2-1, we should consider. Otherwise, 1-1 with top mid majors is the way. Publicly invite Marquette and Madison to start rolling home-and-home series just like they have with each other. Do it so often they have to publicly refuse, then you call them out for being chicken. Get some stones and start valuing the program as a higher level and we will be there eventually.

Isn't Chattanooga returning last year's visit? They very well could be. I didn't know if that was a Home and Home or not.

Isn't Chattanooga returning last year's visit? They very well could be. I didn't know if that was a Home and Home or not. I got the impression it was a home and home. If that’s the case, I think we have the following non conference games scheduled next year: Home: Chattanooga Road: St. Thomas UC - Davis
