Adrian Tigert scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures, claimed a 73-68 win.
Ed McCants and Boo Davis added 15 points.
Milwaukee-native Carl Landry scored 26 points to lead Purdue.
Two key three-point shots in the late going helped the Panthers hang on to their lead. Mark Pancratz hit a three with 5:13 left to push the edge to 66-59 and a Davis three with 59 seconds remaining made it 69-62.
"This was a great team win," UWM head coach Bruce Pearl said. "We're best when everyone contributes and we got that."

Five Things about Purdue:
1. Purdue comes into the year ranked 25th on Kenpom.
2. Purdue returns 2/6 best players from last years team who finished 29-8.
3. Zach Edey is back for another year and is being picked to be 1st team all Big Ten this year. At 7 foot 4 he will headline another great front court for Purdue.
4. Purdue was one of the big losers of the transfer portal this year as they lost their point guard Eric Hunter and failed to bring in both of their big targets.
5. Because of this failure they will rely on a freshman and David Jenkins who is on his 4th school to run the guard position.

Got to attack Edey early!!! Get him in foul trouble. We can’t afford Rand to pick up 2 early ones!!! Our full court press will tire them out and Edey will become useless.

Wish I had the balls to take that. I hit the over at 141 considering how fast we play and the amount of threes purdue shoots. It’ll be interesting to see how we react to the environment. Going to be sold out. Swamp was half empty last year there won’t be an empty seat in Mackey tomorrow. |

Is there any chance we can play Edey off the floor with our speed and athleticism similar to what St. Peter's did to them in the tournament last year?

I wonder if Purdue was much more willing last year to take edey out in tougher matchups because they had trevion as the other center. |

Irrespective of how things go tonight, I believe that this will be a fun season. A reminder to the guys to stack good days and do the next right thing.
