Do you realize how different the Horizon League was constituted in 2005? It was ranked 11th or 12th strongest conference back then. Now, it's 27th or 28th. A 12 seed is a pipe dream! Butler was an 8 coming off a Final Four appearance. That was the highest HL seed ever. Fair enough, but it’s hard to ignore a potential 20+ win team when considering seeds 12-15. It isn't going to happen when you're best non-con win is against UC-Davis. Not in a million years. I'm not trying to sh*t on you, I'm just being realistic.

Horizon league was one of the top Mid Major conferences back in the day now its MEAC SWAC level conference.

16 seed with a potential showdown with bucky in round 2. keep winning and that seed line should rise. It isn't going to rise much farther than out of the First Four. The conference is still garbage. I thought I saw CBS had Milwaukee as 15 seed.

To me, it’s possible that all of the following is true:
1) Ty was being obnoxious in the stands, and other fans weren’t happy with his antics (I was on the other side of the court, so I have no idea).
2) If profanity was used (either with words or gestures), Ty should have been warned (unless it was really bad), and the issue should have been handled by people who were not on the court. And if profanity or anything else inappropriate was said or gestured, this warning and any further disciplinary action for these actions should be seen as something to learn from. And if it isn’t, he should be expected to be kicked out (by ushers) at each game he goes to.
3) Despite the fact the referees made some questionable (at best calls), no team benefited materially from these calls, and overall, the game was called imperfectly, but not in a one-sided manner.
4) The referees showed their thin skin and lack of professionalism when they went to the scorers table to kick him out of the game because he said some things that hurt their feelings. Because of this thin skin, they probably don’t belong on a D-1 basketball court.

And I've not shouted anything profane or derogatory to the officials or players. I certainly could've made a better gesture to say that I thought he was being garbage with his calls. 3) It's all a matter of opinion and viewpoint. From what I saw, where I was, it wasn't a good call. 4) While I didn't make the most appropriate gesture, yes, he certainly overreacted, especially since I've been at games where others were thrown out for much worse (Who can forget Benedict throwing a student fan out???)

Honestly, my expectations have already been surpassed for year 1. The team has on court results better than I anticipated, has a better roster talent wise than expected (with the added benefit of youth!), and do a few things nicely that bode very well for building team identity as a program moving forward. The team defends, plays hard, can shoot the 3, and is willing to move the ball. Those look entirely like instilled requirements by Coach Lundy and the coaching staff which is awesome to see. Because of that, we have the ability to be competitive in most games except when totally over matched, and also can sustain in spite of bad shooting games or poor performance in our weak areas. The Horizon is IMO ours to lose this season and getting a taste of the NCAA tourney would be awesome for the team, BUT the conference tournament worries me. With our propensity to turn the ball over an obscene amount of times it can be tough to string together multiple wins in a row.
As far as expectations the rest of the year, if we just continue doing what we have been I'd consider the year a massive success even if we don't win the conference or make the NCAA tournament. Going forward for next year I think there are 3 key things:
1. Retain our key players. Transfer portal is a double edged sword. We have a number of totally expendable players...but we ideally need to keep the young core together. I view that as Browning, KP, Freeman, JT, and Jamison.
2. Get a legit big likely through the transfer portal. Doesn't have to be a star, just the classic mid major big who's like 6'8 240 and consistently rebounds and can make layups. There's always some Grant Basiles moving around colleges, but that kind of big totally changes the dynamic of this team.
3. Get a lead guard. Again likely in the portal. It seems counter-intuitive considering that all our best players are perimeter guys...but none IMO should be initiating offense and I don't see the potential in any of them to become that (not a knock, just they are different archetypes of players). We are just abysmal passing the ball. We are willing, but we throw ill-advised passes into traffic constantly and don't make good decisions in general leading to awful amounts of turnovers. We just need a guard who can create and reliably make a pass so that the others are getting to attack closeouts and rotating defenders, will dramatically change the offense.
If those things were to happen that's a team that could win a game in the big dance. Excited to see what happens.

The 2005 team was a 12 seed. I’d like to think that’s as high as they’d ever rank a HL team, so as long as we keep winning games, I think it would be very hard for them to keep us as a 16. I feel like Al Davis when I say, “just win baby” Do you realize how different the Horizon League was constituted in 2005? It was ranked 11th or 12th strongest conference back then. Now, it's 27th or 28th. A 12 seed is a pipe dream! Butler was an 8 coming off a Final Four appearance. That was the highest HL seed ever. Actually the 2005 Horizon League was about 18th. IIRC the highs of 11th-12th were in the four years surrounding Butler's Final Four runs (2008-09 to 2011-12).

All this seeding talk is incredibly premature, especially considering our loss to the Raiders put us in a 4-way tie for 1st place.

Post season in sight. You hope for the NCAA tourney, the NIT has to be within grasp. I am very pleased with this team and the first year coach.

14-6 already, this looks like a 14 or 15 conference win team, minimum . that would have us at 20 or 21 wins, and almost certainly a bye into the quarters.

Let's just cut to the chase: 20-12 or better. As SOB says, look at the back of Bart Lundy's "baseball card."

best start since 2005-06 when they started 9-1 in conference. that team made the dance and got to the round of 32 before getting smacked by Florida (in fairness Florida crushed just about EVERYONE during that title run)
