Bought Lindy's this week. Interesting Vin Baker Jr is 2nd team Horizon League. Most on this board doesn't have him as a starter. In other words, we have him as second team Milwaukee Panthers.

Speaking of this year's expectations, what do you guys expect from Vin Baker Jr. in his senior season? At the moment it seems like he is one of the major leaders on the squad, as he should be, but is it realistic to expect a huge jump in production this season?

Not a whole lot outside of some energy minutes… Frankly he’s not that good and it showed last year. Lundy has brought in a ton of frontcourt talent that will see the court in front of him. JJ, Ahmad and Keon will all be ahead of him for sure playing big minutes. Vincent was a productive d1 player to start his career and will be ahead of vin I think. Include a few of the other wings lundy has if he wants to play small. Not a lot of minutes for VB.

Here is hoping a new coaching staff turns things around for Vin Baker Jr.

Vin should be playing in the 2005 Jason McCoy role for this team. Bring energy, guard the inbounder on the press and block shots. Make the occasional shot and dunk everything else.

I'll be closely watching the holdover players to see if I can get an idea of how Lundy's coaching level is (in my flawed view of course). Coach said everyone who will be here will be people they want to be here, so we can assume the holdovers are players he wants in his program. We'll see if any of them turn out to be pretty good.
What if Baker or Browning has some massive all-conference level improvement? I'm not going to put any undue expectations on any kid, I'm just hoping Lundy completely unlocks a level these guys didn't show before.
Expectations for this year, though? Play hard, be coachable, have fun and make games fun to attend again. Style of play is largely irrelevant to my enjoyment. I loved watching Joah, AT and Boo seemingly score at will, just like I loved watching Kaylon Williams and Ryan Allen put dudes in a hurt locker on defense. Everyone remembers Kaylon Williams getting the triple-double against reigning national runner-up Butler just a couple months before they'd be in the title game again, but few remember that he was just as dominant on defense just locking Shelvin Mack DOWN.
That's what I want. Not the specifics. I want to remember how hard players played and I want to remember how much I enjoyed watching it happen.

Kaylon Williams also got a 10 second violation walking the ball up the court in the 2011 Horizon League Title game. That's my memory of him besides the tape over his NSFW tattoo. 😂

Kaylon Williams also got a 10 second violation walking the ball up the court in the 2011 Horizon League Title game. That's my memory of him besides the tape over his NSFW tattoo. 😂 Oh god I forgot about that. Our biggest problem in the 2011 title game was that Brad Stevens put together the perfect game plan to stop Ant Hill from getting the ball. They kept turning the ball over trying to feed Ant the rock and they couldn't hit their threes. I feel like if at least one of those guys had been hot shooting, Butler wouldn't have been able to collapse the passing lanes so easily. I'd also have tried to get Tony Meier the ball a lot more, they really didn't have an answer for him on defense. Unfortunately our offense that year relied a little too much on Tone Boyle stretching the defense, so if he wasn't hitting threes we weren't doing well. IIRC we won almost every game he shot 40% or better from three. One has to wonder what the 2010-11 team would have been like if Tone hadn't redshirted 2009-10 with that back injury and we had picked up a different juco shooting guard for that season.

Fellas, that game seems like a lifetime ago. So much has changed, including me meeting my beautiful bride!

The opening of that game was rough. Jarob McCallum had a couple wide open threes that he would normally make, but he missed them. We still may not have won but it would have been a completely different game the rest of the way had he made them. I think we were only down by four at some point in the second half. IMO That 2010 - 2011 team was the best team that Jeter put together

I've heard it suggested that Ahmad Rand might be our best dunker ever, and this coming from someone who was here when Ed McCants was on the team. I'm pretty excited to see him play.

I said the Panthers will be .500 awhile ago. Does anyone think they will have a losing record? Take the good with the bad for expectations.
