Dre Gholston has been much more a part of the problem than the solution this year. And it sucks, because we all know he *is* such a talented scorer! He just needs to know his strengths, and his weaknesses, and start playing to the former and not the latter. That requires quality coaching though....

Instead, I feel like this coaching staff is happy to let players play to their weaknesses, maybe under the guise of "developing them for the next level". All it does is hurt everyone. And makes us a terrible team that almost always loses (we have 5yrs of proof now), - AND one that is always unable to play together as a team.
This isn't an NBA developmental league, or a Blue Blood one-and-done program like Kentucky for gosh sakes, this is a D1 program where the goal is supposed to be learning how to play winning basketball as a team.

A very underrated part of coaching is talent evaluation once the player's on your roster. I'm not suggesting that St. Xavier plays defense like a Kelvin Sampson or Tubby Smith-coached team, but Devon can't see any court time AT ALL most games? That's perplexing.

#12 really wants to be Ja Morant.

On that note, nice to see Tafari yet again playing to his strengths this half with another great basket under the hoop. I really hope he decides to keep doing that for the rest of the season. It will greatly benefit his stats, and our team's chances of winning. Know who you are, and who you aren't!

Given how terrible our 3 point shooting has been all year, and how often the Panthers shoot from distance, I’m shocked Hankock isn’t playing more. Well, not really shocked with this coaching staff, but it’s really a bad look to have so many DNP-Coach’s Decision followed by a game where he’s filling in a teams big weakness.

Ooof, and then Simms takes a long 2 he should not have, when he instead could have passed it for a better shot from a teammate. But overall, he seems to be learning this half. I hope he continues to!

That is literally this coach's M.O. for the last 5 years. Why do you think our arguably 2nd best player has not started and has barely played this year compared to last year (Josh Thomas)? And why Samba Kane (even when healthy), and Moses Bol have barely played at all despite performing so well early in the year?

And don't get me wrong, I really like Simms! Seeing his breakout 32pt game last year was one of my best memories from last season. But since then, he's made almost nothing but bad decisions with his time on the court, and has had near zero development in his game - he's actually regressed offensively! And that's an indictment of his coaching, not Simms. You could make that regression comment about literally any player that has come through the program in the past 4+ years. They ALL regress!!

Well, the Panthers win by the 22, which is pretty much the bare minimum a Division I team could do against a weak NAIA opponent. I’m happy for Devin Hankock who had his best game as a Panther. Otherwise, not much to say about this game that couldn’t be said about any of our other games. Poor coaching. Poor shot selection. No hustle. Etc.

To paraphrase a friend of mine (and fellow season ticketholder), I don't know if I can assess Devon Hanc*** or not; I KNOW that I can assess PBS!

Otherwise, not much to say about this game that couldn’t be said about any of our other games. Poor coaching. Poor shot selection. No hustle. Etc. Yeah, we are what our ratings/metrics say we are - the 324/358 D1 team according to the NCAA's NET - behind a 1-9 Green Bay team, no less. We're a 2-8 team against a weak D1 schedule, despite returning several of the best players in the league (Gholston and Thomas), and adding the best recruit the conference has ever seen in it's 40+ year history. This isn't just poor coaching - it's literally the worst coaching in all of D1. At some point, we need to recognize or admit that we have hired the worst "first time head coach" that is currently in D1, and he is now in his 5th season of proving it. If our AD, who I defended for firing Rob Jeter, doesn't cut ties with him this year, we honestly need to all realize this program is lost forever, and give up on it.

Estimate of the attendance? The announced attendance was 2,051. From my standpoint, there were a lot more people in the building than I thought there would be. Definitely felt better attended than at least Alcorn State.

Estimate of the attendance? Not huge, but more than most attendances in the PBS era. Maybe 1,500 announced? Actually better than I thought for a workday game.

I would love to see Bol gets some more minutes here. If not now, when? He should be able to dominate the paint in this game. Didn't see him on the bench.
