Wasn't Baldwin a point guard at NU?? You would think he could recruit or coach up a point guard....oh yeah, Te Jon Lucas would certainly help this year ...oh well . Issues goes beyond that. All I can say is BRUTAL...the way it looks now thank God for IUPUI and Robert Morris which could keep us out of the cellar...All with an alleged NBA lottery pick who has looked awful the last two games by even average mid major standards....after St Xavier we reconvene with 5 conference road games in a row to start the new year...scary....we could come back from that 3 -=13 assuming we beat St Xavier...talk about a buzz killer....sure we will be promoting season tickets for next year right at that optimum time.....the baat goes on....How we we get out of the wilderness? You get out by burning it to the ground that’s how!!!!! I’m still P.O. Over this crap last night!!!!

Speaking of IUPUI. Not to dump on them but they are averaging 797 per game. As we know much less than that probably as HL announces tickets sold rather than actual attendance in house. A metaphor...HL once had Butler in Indy.. now has Oooey Pooey...oh thats right...PFW down the road compared to Valpo....

We shouldn't be ten games into a season still trying to figure out everything.
I've watched two games and it's pretty obvious who the starting five should be, as well as the rotation.
This staff should be _the_ example in the dictionary of how poor coaching can completely undermine the talent on a team.
The locker room seems lost and checked out.
PBJ made a horrible decision coming here - at least in terms of his draft stock, money-making potential and overall basketball development. It may have saved his dad's job for a year, but no further. Not only that, but it's brought more attention to this program and his dad's inabilities as a coach.
I stand by my statement that this team is near or at the top of the talent level in the Horizon. And I'm pretty confidently predicting this team will finish in the bottom half of the conference, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them finish closer to the bottom than the middle. Turning it around requires a competent coaching staff devising ways out of the funk. We don't have that. It needs players who can step up and hit shots when needed. Maybe JT and Dre could, if give the chance, but PBJ failed miserably down the stretch against CU when given the opportunity. We need team efforts and chemistry - both things that seem readily lacking in this team.
Hopefully, I'll eat my words.

As for the game, season to date and PBS's coaching career, where to start? One of many characteristics that is clearly missing is mental toughness, or team competitiveness. This is an intangible that the next head coach should be capable of instilling. I will comment on that further in the appropriate "Proposal" thread. It is a missing quality implied in some of tonyt's posts in each of the past three seasons.
On another note, Todd Rosiak reported that 19 NBA teams requested credentials for last night's game to see PBJ. Do scouts have the most non-essential job ever created? What is the value added for an NBA team to pay anyone to attend in person that they cannot see on video? Clearly, NBA teams have too much money to waste. My comment has nothing to do with PBJ's poor performance. I would ask the same rhetorical questions even if he lived up to the hype.

So IUPUI also uses the “double the actual attendance and add a couple hundred for good measure” method?

Last night was very disappointing. We were evenly matched with Rhode Island and they were better coached. Some of our shooters were off, but we lost last night on costly turnovers and lack of rebounds. Take a step back.. Yes, we should have won. Heck we should be 8-3 IMO with this talent. But many, many winnable games are coming up. This team needs their confidence back and to start having fun. We should have beaten YSU and Alcorn at minimum and probably Bowling Green, Yale, Colorado and Rhode Island as well. We could be 5-6, but for 2 losses by a combined 6 points. As long as we are at our strongest for the HLT, we'll be alright. A lot can still happen. I wouldn't check out right after the toughest tests/warmup games have finished. We likely won't see a team as good as Rhode Island again unless we make the NIT or NCAAs. Dunno about the coaching conundrum. All of the coaches have played at this level and know basketball. It does seem like just letting the team play and making sure JT, Dree, PBJ, and Newby/Lathon are out there at all times and someone like JSP or Samba Kane is out there to protect the post is a better option that whatever we are doing right now with roster/depth tests. Whatever the offensive game plan is, it clearly isn't working. And it is clearly pissing the players off otherwise they'd look a little more enthused to run the offenses being given them. I don't know enough about hoops x's and o's but I sure hope PBS isn't trying to teach Princeton-style Bill Carmody offense. This team, (imo) with its lack of a great group of post players, needs to maximize the shot creation for the guards. JSP, VBJ, Bol and Kane can clean up the glass and occupy space/set picks to open a path in the lane, but they should not be the focus. We need to focus on creating shots- probably on the perimeter as shooting 3's will be our only way to compete in some games. Take some perspective (yes, we are 229th or something... we can get back to 150 or lower with a nice extended winning streak): Had last night been against MU, Cincy or Missouri I think it would sting less simply from the brand name, but in reality, the loss is what it is- a loss to a good Top-100 Atlantic 10 team. Now if we lose to St. Xavier... Holy f(^%. I'll be out of optimism- but even then... conference, Conference, CONFERENCE.

Victor, Thanks for the solid post and I am not checking out yet. It is coming more and more into my mind though to question the assumption I keep hearing about how our talent is so great and top of conference in quality. Not so sure....maybe we are drinking our own Kool Aid on that a bit more than we want to admit and put it all on coaching...just wondering....

Patrick Baldwin is a terrible coach.
This team has talented players, and has had talented players.
He cant connect with players, guys have left every year. He doesn't make adjustments, and seems to not be able to motivate.
Amanda should do something but her incompetence is right up there.

You should check out the team is broken I know for 100% fact the don’t care and now it’s blowing up big time in his face (Baldwin) and he don’t care He’s not listening to anyone but himself that what assistants are for to help you but want take the help! If this continue to happen Every player on that team except his son are going to be fighting each other because losing changes players emotions and it’s going to be a brawl because Everyone in there is saying all he care is about his SON and this toxic and dangerous for the team AB needs to keep a eye on this it’s REAL BAD GUYS!!!!! I hate to say this Milwaukee basketball is a joke and not just to me it’s to all the former fans players and coaches that been here!!!!!! Nobody respect this team because of selfishness!!!!!!

This is team is totally checked out with this coach and I’ve done the same I’m canceling the rest of my vacation days I took off to watch these guys and going to work this is ridiculous.as long as I been watching and coaching basketball has I never been this disappointed this is a waisted season for everyone that’s on this team the only he keep his job if his son comes back!!!! And matter of fact PBJ looks like he checked out as well This Terrible everyone should get fired for this SH*T!!!! Gotta say I agree. PBJ looks like he knows he made the wrong decision. He just floats around on the perimeter, waiting for a 3pt shot attempt. I don't care, attack the basket and get a charge. At this point, he may even pull what Jalen Johnson did last year for Duke, and end his season early to prepare for the draft.

I think we have all drank the kool aid when talking about the talent level on this team. Outside of Dre Pbj jt and newby no one on this team is good. Don’t care that lathon is a former 4 star he can’t shoot and isn’t a pg. Jsp is the only big man that can at least compete with other teams and is a former walk on. The talent sucks and the coaching sucks which leads to an awful team.

What is weird too is that Coach does not seem to run anything that puts junior in position to really take over. All see is three point shots from perimeter...maybe he is concerned with showing favoritism or maybe he does not know what to do ...hard to believe the latter and if the former is true that is plain stupid. Stupid for the other players too not to capitalize on juniior doing well both reputationally and helping team win, getting more attention for him and them....vexing to say the least
