What's the latest on the recruiting front? I haven't heard anything for a few weeks. We are maxed out on our scholarships now. Don't expect anything else. 10.1.1

I’m not sure what to think really. We got two 7 footers who I think will be very good in the Horizon League. Are they Shaq? Of course not. But they were good enough to play at San Fran and UCF. And we got Kyle Ross who is a legitimate 3 star player. Al in all, I’m pretty pleased with that. But you can’t help but wonder what we could have done had he announced a month or two earlier. Mainly, I’m wondering if that could have swayed McCabe to come here instead of UNLV. Who knows. Maybe McCabe knew the decision but still decided on UNLV?? In any event, I do think we had some nice pieces already to compliment PBJ. Sinani looks to be a true scorer. And we’ve got JT and Gholston coming back… as well as Lathon. We should be pretty damn good next year. Especially if Baker Jr ends up being as good as we think he is. But with Gholston, Thomas, Lathon, PBJ, and Samba Kane… I think we are going to be pretty damn good. And then Ross (we better not redshirt him), Baker Jr, Sinani, Bol, Simms, and Newby coming off the bench. I mean… how good of a lineup do you think we’re capable of putting together? Because that alone has me pumped.

I would argue we are seeing quite a bit of spillover. Not just in commitments like Kyle Ross that likely wouldn’t have happened, but general interest in the program. Would Blue class of 23’ be coming for a visit if PBJ didn’t commit? Hard to say. Probably not.

I watch his performance as a sophomore in the Indiana state tournament, and he was good enough back then to play for us.

We got two 7 footers who I think will be very good in the Horizon League. Are they Shaq? Of course not. But they were good enough to play at San Fran and UCF. Moses Bol didn't play a minute at UCF. Samba Kane plays 10 minutes a game at USF and averaged under three points and three rebounds per game. Sure, 63.6% is a cool FG%, but that's on 44 attempts in 222 minutes on the court. As far as USF centers go, it's not like we're getting Bill Russell...or hell...even Bill Cartwright. And we got Kyle Ross who is a legitimate 3 star player. After having guys with no other D-I offers like Dylan Page and other guys with high-major offers like Shaq Boga come through, I'm surprised anyone here even cares which other schools offer a player. Just a recipe for disappointment on our end to get all hyped about teams in better conferences offering a scholarship to a kid. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with that. But you can’t help but wonder what we could have done had he announced a month or two earlier. Mainly, I’m wondering if that could have swayed McCabe to come here instead of UNLV. Who knows. Maybe McCabe knew the decision but still decided on UNLV?? This is what I wonder. I think it's pretty obvious that PBS was shopping for a lifeboat and PBJ was going to go wherever his dad was, then when it turned out dad wasn't going anywhere then UWM remained the choice. You just wonder what the commitments could have been if PBS was looking to put his best foot forward at UWM next season. I'm still excited for the season. I'd just be more excited if we were coming in with a couple 4-stars to complement PBJ.

I mean… Shaq Boga seemed to do pretty well after he left Milwaukee over at UTRGV in the WAC. Averaged 2.3 PPG on 8.3 MPG with Milwaukee. Then went 14.0 / 12.6 PPG on 33.3 / 34.5 MPG at UTRGV the two season with them. Seems like we might have overlooked some potential there.

There just hasn't been ANY perceptible recruiting spillover from the PBJ signing.

I disagree with some trepidation. We signed two 7 footers and are being considered by other recruits especially in Wisconsin. Kyle Ross signed because of relationship with Patrick Jr. We retained Thomas and Gholston probably because of Jrs signing. Why would Sibley sign with two bigs coming into the program. Things are going well. Let’s keep recruiting legitimate D1 players. My cup is always half full.
