Lena Taylor. She wanted to make sure Jeter was replaced with an African American. The best coach available for the position wasn't the first priority. Lena Taylor's saber-rattling led to Lavall Jordan's hiring, not Pat Baldwin's. So, with regards to Jordan, you're absolutely right. Lena Taylor's saber-rattling only led to LaVall Jordan's hire because Mark Mone doesn't have a spine. He does have a huge f***ing head, but no vertebrae. Seriously, Mark Mone's head is the perfect size for my body.

Braun’s close to her 8th year on the job and assuming she makes it to the end of her contract, it’ll be 10 years. That's not by her choice. She's applied elsewhere to advance her career. For some odd reason, people don't want to hire her to run a bigger program.

Personally, the entire athletics program is stale. They need new blood. By that I mean they need to add a new program. Football would be awesome, but unrealistic. Hockey would be great, but expensive. I say wrestling.
Wrestling is gaining more traction and with Wisconsin being the only D1 wrestling school in the state, it would generate a nice rivalry. The expenses aren't horrible, and AWA being located in the area would be an easy recruiting tool.

The AWA! Yeah baby! Syndicate the broadcasts to air late Saturday nights or early Sunday mornings. Tape the matches in a low cost studio near Downer Avenue, where a throng of Panther faithful could fill both rows of folding chairs on three sides of the mat. Have Rodger Kent call the action and Marty O'Neill interview Panther grapplers. Play Roll Out the Barrell over the PA. Create a new thread under "Other Milwaukee Panther Sports" where all of us pencil necked turkey geeks could comment on the latest hotshot wrestling recruits rumored to be considering MKE.
My apologies in advance to those of you too young to understand what the heck I just stated.

Hockey makes all the sense in the world. The only D1 hockey in Milwaukee and 1 of 2 in the entire state (which is a hockey state) would do quite well. And as others have mentioned, there is plenty of talent all over the place to field a competitive team.

Not to mention, you could then add women’s hockey easily, which is also a money maker , and fill that needed criteria. If you add wrestling, then you need to find another women’s sport to add (I think)

I really like the idea of Milwaukee adding hockey, as it will keep me even more busy at the Arena during the winter (once it’s safe to be in large crowds again), but I could see it being a logistical nightmare. Yeah, the Panthers could play home games at the Panther Arena, but I’m not sure where they could practice. The Kern Center is already used by MSOE and the Admirals. The next closest ice center would probably be the Pettit or Wilson Park. Maybe I’m forgetting a possible location, but I could see the logistics being a nightmare.
Personally, I’d prefer lacrosse over wrestling, and while this is all a pipe dream as it is, football is beyond a pipe dream at this point.

Add women's wrestling too! I believe The Fabulous Moolah and Vivian Vachon both have collegiate eligibility left!
Seriously guys, the best potential for revenue production and self-sustainability is men's basketball. If that doesn't excite the alumni, student and general fan base, nothing will. Also, men's baseball now plays in a wonderful facility. With the right marketing, baseball could find a nice little niche for itself.

Mid-major baseball in the north? Might turn a profit if Daulton Varsho gets to be as good as Curtis Granderson was...
And I totally get that football/hockey are a pipedream, but we were set up for them to be FAR more successful than...especially baseball (but also basketball). Hell, our basketball program has put more guys in the NFL than the NBA

Everyone who thinks adding sports (football, hockey, or wrestling) is a pipe dream or unrealistic is thinking just how Braun and the administration want you to think. They're limited and expect that too from the fan base so that there's no additional pressure to perform, fundraise or show ANY ingenuity. Seriously, it's been almost a decade, what are 5 things they can point to and take credit for? What's new?
Also, with Butler and Valpo out of the league, and no ability to host the conference tourney, when will the Arena even be 1/2 packed again? Pressure produces diamonds I thought. Do something and fail at it, I don't even care. Try.

For some odd reason, people don't want to hire her to run a bigger program. For some reason? Like how she's botched the firing and hiring of Men's Basketball coaches? Like how she drove away a bunch of long time donors? Like how some of her administrative employees scrambled for the door in response to her management style?
