I unequivocally agree with buppie without the slightest bit of rhetoric: late-season losing has gotten real old. Under PBS, we are 13-30 on and after Jan. 22. That has simply got to end. The question I've asked myself over and over the last two years is this: can it end under the current coach?!

Team chemistry is everything. All the great teams. Every single one. (assuming you already have good players and good coaching).
Too bad about PBJ; I gave up on that vision a few months back. It just doesn't add up if he were going to commit he would have already committed.

From the start, I gave PBS a pass for his first three years because of the huge hole he had to climb out of. As often discussed here, he was hired late to lead what was an unstable program within a dysfunctional athletic department enabled by an apathetic university administration. Besides, we needed some stability within the head coaching position.
But this is Year 4. Successful results should be expected and PBS is now fully accountable. If MKE has another February/March swoon, any self-respected administration should seriously consider a coaching change.
Having stated that, this season is far from over. I am cautiously optimistic that the end of this season will be different. We will soon know. Let's wait a little longer before we Franitize this message board.

The question I've asked myself over and over the last two years is this: can it end under the current coach?! I think this is one of the biggest issues...we need teams playing their best ball as we go into February and March for the HL Tourney. I do not fully side on the "doom" squad yet for this year, as the HL is fairly weak in general. Yes, WSU is solid but they have also faltered to YSU and OAK once so they are far from unbeatable IMO. Also, Oakland is an 8-14 team that is coached by Kampe (who we usually play well against) and they have lost games to GB twice. It starts tomorrow, let's see some DEFENSE especially on the 3 point line.

And Kampe isn't exactly Mr. March. Look, a team with a plan can find its way through this maze. Do we have the bench leadership to deliver us to a higher place?

(Milwaukee's AD is actually far more forthcoming than most of the league, Surely you jest, unless you consider blatant dishonesty "forthcoming." Ok: - Why didn't AJ Bramah play last weekend? - Why did Amari Davis and Josh Jefferson sit the first 15 minutes against YSU? - What's up with UDM's pause a few weeks back? - Why was Rashad Williams out tonight? - What's going on with Darius Quisenberry (OK technically this one got answered 3 weeks after he started missing games) - just...freakin NKU in general, man... You're hyperfocused on one school...everyone does this sh*t. Especially with injuries.

Change must be made. Should we bring up the goals for this program from the AD from the press conference after firing Rob Jeter. Wasn't it top 100 in the RPI and top 3 in the HL. Beating IUPUI (3), GB (2) and CSU once as they got lucky as the Vikings fell asleep is not setting the world on fire. These are the official NCAA rankings (NET) of the foes that we've managed to vanquish this year: IUPUI 295 (three times), Western Michigan 285, Green Bay 270 (twice) and Cleveland State 165. Not good. We've also lost to a program-record number of teams with a NET/RPI/KenPom rating of 200 and worse (six). Not good at all.

Wouldn't programs like UW-Madison and MU disclose such player personnel information to the press and fans on a timely basis? Could the secrecy be more of a Horizon League thing? Or a mid-major thing? Or a virtually irrelevant program within a major market thing (i.e. no press coverage)? I don't know the answers, as I haven't been following other programs.

You're hyperfocused on one school...everyone does this sh*t. Especially with injuries. First off- 'love what you guys (and you personally writing-wise) do at the HorizonRoundtable. And I mean this in no way as disrespect to your very valid point. But!- I feel like that is the problem of those other schools' AD and information dissemination practices. Do we really want to start using the excuse, "well that is how IP-FP-UIW does it so what the hay? Let's let it all crumble.... :/ " From a school that used to release:- "Tyrone Young got caught with 5lbs of shwag- call INTERPOL!!" (Huge JS story at the time)
- "Avery went a little nutzo at practice, out for the season... he'll be back"
- "hey Ricky Franklin got a DUI; will sit 3(?) games but he'll be back..."
- Tory Johnson getting booted for good reason
- The Absences of the Chitown Bad Boys (KJ and Flowers)
- Updates on Kyle Kelm's foot for 4yrs
- Jay O missing 3 2014 games for violation of rules (that might have given us 23 or 24 wins that year)
- Very public firing of a beloved (and vilified) head coach of 11yrs
It just seems like everything is kept secret these days. There is no need to be so secretive about roster status. And recruiting. I'll try to keep the faith but man it's hard these days with the Panthers... go panthers.PS: And I get it that perhaps, nothing news-worthy like the above examples has gone on or will go on this season. I don't want to amplify fear but it seems to me like we are on the Titanic and tonyT sees the iceberg and is shouting at the top of his lungs for someone to do something. I'll wait until we know something about '21-'22 I guess. Because right now we don't know sh*t about the future.

4 of 9 on that list are arrests, which are public record. I think firing a coach at a public school would be too, but regardless it's not something you *don't* announce publicly. News on transfers generally comes from the players transferring. KJ and Flowers left along with a bunch of transfers and Johnson being kicked off the team...generally worth wondering where two role players are when half the roster isn't on the bench anymore.
Not sure what you mean about being secretive about recruiting? But coaches literally can't comment on recruits until they've signed...
The one most comparable to the above situations is Jay O's absence, and I'd say they *weren't* very forthcoming about it.

Todd Rosiak stated three weeks ago that Lathon was to join some then-injured players this season as "reinforcements." In actuality, this is UWM's athletic department, so the Lathon issue is a top secret. (Milwaukee's AD is actually far more forthcoming than most of the league, but generally doesn't get into injury stuff) It was indicated awhile ago Lathon opted for surgery on an injury and was out for year (thanks Tony!) Ok parkerj you win the debate. Congrats. I may be overreacting to what I see unfolding. Time'll tell. But to answer your question, I guess I just figure we shouldn't be finding out about the status of a player who would likely be 1st Team All-Horizon League.... from tonyt. I find it unsettling that we are finding out virtually everything in real-time, from... tonyt. I'm done pretending this is normal. Jimmy was right.

In Marquette's case, when a player is out, that information by the athletic department is out. I'm sure it to stop the rumor mill.
