remember when we had a terrible regular season, went in as the last seed and pulled off a bunch of upsets to get to the league title game? imagine where we would be with Lavall at the helm.

remember when we had a terrible regular season, went in as the last seed and pulled off a bunch of upsets to get to the league title game? imagine where we would be with Lavall at the helm. Given the shambles the team was in that year, I thought Lavall Jordan did a really great job. If he was here for four years, I’d imagine he’d have had at least a few middle of the conference finishes and maybe even competed for the conference title. He returned 0 starters from the previous year, and had a starting lineup of two reserves who played a bit the previous year, one reserve who didn’t play much the previous year, a freshman point guard (who regressed badly after Lavall Jordan left), and Cameron Harvey. He kept the team together and playing for each other to the end.

So much ground to cover, but I'll just duck in to say this: at its essence, basketball is about belief, discipline, effort, energy, sacrifice and teamwork. The best teams have most or all of those attributes and the bad teams flatly don't.

And by the way, next time we hire a head coach, whether that is next year or seven years from now, can we please go back to the proven formula in this program - a big-time winner, regardless the collegiate level? Enough of the inexperienced assistants.

Here are the NET ratings of the teams to which we've lost this year: 156, Cleveland State; 221, Northern Kentucky (twice); 237, Kansas State; 289, IUPUI; 300, Purdue Fort Wayne (twice); and 308, Robert Morris. I'm going to puke!
