That isn't done at UWM. Furthermore, the competition was decidedly NOT similar!

It was (Hayward's college career) during best years of the Horizon to date. But outside of Xavier, Georgetown, Ohio State, UCLA, Minnesota, Clemson... OK maybe you're right.
But I said similar-ish, and Hayward is an extreme comparison. I didn't realize Mitchell had such monster career stats. I think he'll eventually get in the Athletics HOF. I don't know how he's not already.

Unless there's some kind of animus at the school toward men's basketball, he should be.

From what I recall from a couple of years on the HOF board, he still has to be nominated by someone. Until that's done it's a moot point. Unless the process has changed from years ago when I was there, that may be a sticking point.

UWMFan is correct. He must be nominated to be considered by the Hall of Fame Committee. Here is the link to the nomination form. mkepanthers.com/documents/2020/7/14/HOF_Nomination_Form_2020.pdfIf someone would want to nominate him for the 2020 class, I can most likely make sure that the nomination form gets considered even though the submission date has passed for 2020.

You're on top of it, Adam. Thank you!

Adam, do you know if there's still an ability to nominate someone who was NOT an athlete but somehow made contributions to the athletic dept? I don't mean financial support necessarily. But when I was on the board there was a nomination for a local journalist I believe who had covered UWM sports for a long time. It was a little used process but there for someone who'd been a contributor to the program. Curious if that still exists.

The individual must be or have been associated with Panther Athletics in some way and contributed to the success of the department. In 2018, Derek Visocky was inducted in this manner for contributions as a student to assist in our efforts to move Panther Athletics to Division I in the late 80's. But yes, a nomination can be submitted for consideration.

Sounds like Marc Mitchell is in.

I think the world of Marc and am ecstatic that he's been selected. His teammate and fellow Milwaukee native Craig Greene also should have been inducted long ago. Derick Kelly and I discussed the subject earlier this morning and there probably could be a men's basketball player (Gerald Hardnett, Harold Lee, Glen Allen, Kevin Jones) added each of the next 25 years ... and they still won't be caught up.

In the Antrm era, the only prettier sight than seeing Marc Mitchell dunk (at 6 feet tall) was watching Marc Mitchell lob the ball to Craig Greene for a dunk.
