Dylan, you have forgotten. These college athletes actually only exist for our entertainment. Between games they’re just stored in a box.
Until the nation and its people do what must be done to contain (not eradicate — contain) the virus, we should all expect these terrible disruptions to continue. It’s all about the virus and what we do about it. Complaining about our disappointments and inconveniences otherwise is pointless. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Americans are dying needlessly.

Tens of thousands of Americans die needlessly from many other things, yet most are not saying boo about that. Also, half of that number was people over 70, which was handled poorly by those governors of the year.

Fran Truer words never spoken. We are talking about playing Russian roulette, (no pun intended) with human lives here not Darwinian cull the herd statistics ala Ayn Rand. Do the right thing. Be on the right side of history.

Yes Mu. thousands of people die every year from flu, gun violence, highway crashes, cancer etc. corono is an entirely new thing however, and one which has already killed 50k more people in 6 months than we lost in WW1 in 19 months. and its not showing any signs of stopping.a proper response to somethingg like this requires federal guidance and leadership, which has not only been nonexistent, but measures were taken to TAKE AWAY medical supplies from states. the states cant do this on their lonesome, for every state like WI that tries to stay at home, theres places like Georgia and Florida that ignore the problem. re-opening happened too soon, much too soon, and in the process threw away the progress that had been made over those weeks of staying home. We are almost certainly going to have to have a second ' Stay at home" lockdown period, and which will require months to get the vitus under control. we cant have sports until then.

Sorry, we'll just have to disagree. The lock-downs didn't do anything, other than making matters worse. Yet, the goalpost keep on moving from many of these clowns that run these states. Cal, Conn and NY to just list some shut down are worse than states that did re-open in some minds early.

Even though I don't know what protocols were/weren't being used by schools, sports bubbles have proven to work and could have presumably worked on campuses too. I know just about every program had something in place and I certainly don't have the time to look at each one. One can assume they're essentially the same with minor differences. Could athletes have been protected? Yes. Would they probably require special circumstances that regular students wouldn't be privy to? Yes. Is that anything new with athletics? No. Would these protocols require ACTUAL enforcement unlike what has been shown countless times in WI and across the country? Yes.
With that said, the heart issues related to former positive patients is a concern and the varying degrees of advice from doctors is equally concerning. The conferences who have canceled/postponed are able to because the political/cultural pressure is less. Granted, no one cares if the mid-major conferences cancel so the political "outrage" is subjective & cheap at best. Nebraska on the other hand, they can go back to being third fiddle to Texas in the Big 12 and get a smaller payout all for the sake of maybe going 6-6 this year. Bucky would miss the near guaranteed win and that's it.

NCAA remains committed to March Madness returning in 2021. NCAA Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt said Wednesday fans should prepare for a "special" event after this year's cancellation:
"We are going to have a tournament. It's going to be special. We have our preferences about how we'd like to have it be, but if we have to adjust to the virus, which we don't control, we will adjust accordingly. The health and safety of the players and the coaches and all the people around the games—the referees, the fans—will be primary. But ultimately it will also include determining a national champion in the fairest and most equitable way that we can under these unusual circumstances. So, I think it's important to note: We're gonna have all sorts of contingencies and plans if it's necessitated. We're just not in the position to be able to talk about those in the middle of August, because that's not what our primary goal is."

I’d prefer some sort of mascot Royal Rumble event as a means to qualify for the tournament if it expands. Barely 20% of D1 programs can make a case for the tournament so the other 80% shouldn’t simply qualify. It’s not like COVID is going to be the reason MKE won’t make the tournament next year.

The Biggest Dance. 357 teams, One Tournament. That is EXACTLY what I think it will be. Everybody has a plan for everything: schools, sports, businesses, concerts, etc. That's the way it must be. EVERY ONE of those plans is a tentative plan. If we have learned anything since March, it's that all plans are at the mercy of the virus. How did that school reopening plan work out in Paulding, Georgia? How about the Cardinals' baseball season? The Prussian field marshal von Moltke famously said that no battle plan survives contact with the enemy. Sound familiar? Until the nation contains the enemy -- the virus -- all these plans amount to wishful thinking. Don't expect to be munching any popcorn at the Cell this year.
