Brewers take a 1-0 lead on a error by the Royals. Cards are losing 2-0 to the Pirates so we could pull into an effective tie with them.

What if there's a two-way tie for 2nd in the division and a 3-way tie for the 8th spot?

What if there's a two-way tie for 2nd in the division and a 3-way tie for the 8th spot? There are no tiebreaker games this year. ties within the division are broken based on head to Head record, then record within the division. If still tied after that, record over the last 20 games will break it. I the case of a 3 way tie for 8th, the records of the 3 teams against each other with be the first tie breaker followed by best division record. The Brewers right now are 3-4 against the Reds, which makes wining this upcoming series crucial. We lead the series with the cards 3-2 heading into the closing 5 game series to finish the season.

Brewers vs Cardinals next weekend may not necessarily be the closing series for the Cardinals. They would play a makeup doubleheader against the Tigers, if necessary, on Monday.

Difficult game today. KC's starter is 4-2 with a 2.06 ERA. That is almost as good as Corbin Burnes. Lindbloom will need a 2nd consecutive solid outing.

i tend to think the Caards series against the Tigers will be necessary, for the Cards to try to get one of the last playoff spots.
