Has anyone heard the rumor that Amanda Braun's contract was not extended? What would that mean? How would that change how people on this board feel about the program? Would it bring back donors?

There is a great deal of work to be done, including coaches to connect with, funds to be raised and fences to be mended, but it's the ONLY logical step and one that I'm certain would bring some donors back into the fold.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Amanda Braun's contract was not extended? From where did you hear this? It's not like it's on JSOnline or our local sports radio.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Amanda Braun's contract was not extended? What would that mean? How would that change how people on this board feel about the program? Would it bring back donors? For me, it would mean that I would probably purchase season tickets again (I did not last year). It is not that I have anything personal against the AD, I just don’t believe the athletic department has been headed in the right direction under her leadership over the past few years and I don’t think she is capable of turning it around. I’m not sure what impact that her departure would have on bringing donors back immediately. While she certainly alienated some big pockets (Nicholas), I think that we would need to see some improvement on the court before any of them came back. What Braun’s departure could do is to allow our fanbase to come back together and focus on supporting the team rather than allow so much of our energy to be focused on our collective unhappiness with the administration. There are others on this board who have invested far more time, money, and passion into this program than I have who could weigh in on that possibility. Her last extension was signed on May 4, 2017 and expires on June 30th. I think that they would need to get an extension done real soon but that does not necessarily mean that they would announce it right away. I don’t put a lot of stock in rumors, so I am resigned to the likelihood of her getting two more years. If I am wrong and you are correct, I would be happy to buy beers at a game this coming season.

Come on everyone!!! Don't you see we are on the "Path To Prominence" ? A little more trite alliteration for this peppy preppy Mission Statement? My concern is that on a very short term snapshot supposedly the budget is balanced with a small surplus and debt slightly reduced. On the other hand there is no such positive thing as a favorable "run rate" applicable to mens basketball. Current situation not sustainable or down the road we end up back at the garbage can or worse. NO PR skills with the local media and to many a toxic and polarizing figure. Have to admit though she is somewhat adept at self promotion aka distortion and selective facts and cultivating sycophants.

Thank you (AD Braun) for Pat Baldwin, but I for one am dying to see REAL leadership at the Milwaukee AD. It has been gone since Bud left.

i will believe her contract has not been extended when it is announced officially by the university.
i'm not following the department closely enough to have heard any rumors about AD Braun's contract that might be circulating.
i do think that it's interesting that nothing has been announced either way with slightly less than six weeks before the current contract expires. If there was no question of her continuing, wouldn't the deal have been made, signed, and announced by now? As i say, i don't follow really closely, so i have little to no information about how common it is for things like this to go down to the wire. But speaking generally, when i hear mention that this or that coach or general manager (in the pros) or athletic director is not extended well in advance of the expiration of the current contract, the speculation i hear is that it's not a good sign for the incumbent.
i've never been a fan of Amanda Braun. i would be happy to see her go somewhere else. (Milwaukee has suffered long enough...).

I could be wrong but didn't we only find out about her last extension because someone got ahold of a copy of the extension? I don't think they even had a press release the last time it happened.

Rich Kirchen put the info out in 2017. "UW-Milwaukee quietly extended athletic director Amanda Braun’s contract two years with a modest 2 percent pay increase and increased her potential bonuses".

Meaningless speculation at this point. Would it have a positive effect on donor and fan interest if she moved on? Obviously. But raise your hand if you have any faith at this point in our University administration having even noticed the collapse of the program under her supervision. So like the other donors who have left not just the athletic program but the University itself, count me out unless and until it actually happens.
Even then, as others have noted, the damage is so extensive that it will take a LONG time to repair the breach and rebuild the bridges to all those she has alienated, if that’s even possible. Until then, expect the Arena on game days to continue to resemble a Trailways station 7 hours before the only bus out of town.

So you're saying there's a chance???
Who really are you, GoMR? Teasing us like this, that's naughty!
I have no idea what the status of Amanda Braun's contract extension is. If and when there would be an extension, I would be very surprised if it would be announced publicly. That is the way this university operates, with very little transparency pertaining to the athletic department. Didn't we find out about some of Rob Jeter's contractual changes long after they were executed?
I am probably not going out on the limb by stating perhaps the administration simply does not think athletics, including men's basketball, is important enough to warrant such public announcements.

So, for how many years do you think she's been extended this time? Two years? Four?
Silence at UWM typically isn't a good thing; this is how they do business.

In our first 17 years of Division 1 conference affiliation (Years 4 through 20 under Bud), we won 56 titles in our six major sports (men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball and baseball). In the six under the current athletics director, we've won 6 (5 women's soccer, 1 men's basketball).
I rest my case.
