There is at least a reasonable possibility that we have played our last Motor City Malaise game, forever. Not, unfortunately, because there is any likelihood of our program escaping to a better conference (which at this point would be almost ANY other conference), but because the catastrophically bad attendance in Detroit for three years running may convince even the geniuses at HL headquarters (not to mention the pizza man) that it just doesn't work!
So, next year in... Ft. Wayne War Memorial Coliseum? Nah -- way too big at 13,000.
Farmer's in Indy? 6300? Nope; still too big.
Wait, I have it! Perfect size at 5200 seats, and a great central location: The Horizon League Tournament at Kokomo High School and Memorial Gymnasium, co-sponsored by Cook McDougal's Irish Pub and the Gingerbread House Bakery! This will be the biggest thing in Kokomo since the Konklave of '23!
Or, I suppose they could just go back to the HLT at campus sites that guaranteed large, packed arenas for the semis and finals.

Sadly, Tony Paul tweeted yesterday that the league isn't going back to campus sites. I'm not sure why a new promotion company would take on this proven failure but LeCrone has shown everyone he will do just about anything possible to keep this going.

And... no one is surprised.
If Lecrone auctions off the hosting rights where the hell will it end up?
Let's go, Ko-Ko-Mo!!!

In a moment of pure fantasy and magical thinking had a daydream of MVC taking us for our market size and the fact that our baseball program with the new park could be a fit. Still drives me crazy Loyola with no baseball, small arena and less mens basketball success excluding 1963 and until this year was selected ahead of us. Then again....

What did they announce as the attendance yesterday? The eyeball test had the crowd at about 3,000.

I'm sure the announced will be a hoot. The announced attendance for the semis was close to 6,000. That's preposterous even for the OU game. It appeared that after OU lost the fans who stayed for our game with Wright numbered WELL under 500.

Attendance is for the entire day, not per game. Not justifying their figures but that’s what Paul Oren told me either last year or the year prior.

Does that include those who came for the knitting workshops and yoga societies?
The “entire day” yesterday was two games, right? And one was a women’s game? That number is preposterous.

It’s reasonable to assume that figure includes everyone who walked/drove by the arena too. Despite drowning in stupidity, LeCrone & co. know they have to pull out every trick possible to polish this turd every way possible. Forcing every program to buy a bloc of tickets in a “make or break” year is no accident. Same with having the President of Olympia sit with him courtside for last night’s game as it’s essentially a 2 hour sales pitch to keep this monstrosity going. I’m sure all tickets distributed have been strategically counted over the five days too. These are all desperate attempts by a desperate man.

Anyone who watched Raptors/Pistons tonight also saw Detroit fans get OVERWHELMINGLY outnumbered by Toronto fans even though they all had to cross an international boundary. Nobody likes going to that arena.

LCA is great. The problems are both of their tenants suck and tickets (face value) can be stupidly expensive. A front row seat in the upper bowl on a weekend can cost $125 for a Wings' game.
