WONDERFUL addition to the league, LeCronnies! I mean, the Jaguars are a GRAND SLAM!! They have increased the league profile by LEAPS AND BOUNDS!!! What a shame. If the league was so hell-bent on adding a university from Indianapolis, perhaps they should have tried to persuade the University of Indianapolis to move up to Division II. On second thought, doesn't Indiana Bible College field a team? IUPUI and IPFW were bad additions that strengthed the Summit League the day they left. Thanks LeCrone.

NO one has ever accused LeCrone of being a visionary much less the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Thing is it has moved beyond mediocrity to disaster....

Lets not get hung up on mens basketball. Like I said in an earlier post, We have become IUPUI....I bet they are in contention for McCafferty, their womens soccer and basketball are historically good. That should be enough , right? Just like here? Whats the problem? We are ooey pooey too at mens basketball. I'm glad you mentioned this Steve. Yes, we joke about the McCafferty trophy because an athletic program's success should be measured first, second and third by the success of men's basketball in the Horizon League, but the success of the entire athletic department should be emphasized. Since 1995 (after Notre Dame, LaSalle and Xavier left the conference)All-Sports McCafferty Trophies: 7 (5 under Bud Haidet) Last McCafferty Trophy: 2013 (Under Andy Geiger) Number of times we've finished outside the top 4: 3 (7th in 1995, 6th in 2016, 5th in 2017) It's no coincidence that since Amanda Braun was hired as Athletic Director, the university has not been awarded the McCafferty Trophy a single time. That's not to say some of the blame can't be pointed towards our administrative dysfunction prior to her being hired, but she has had 8 years of mediocrity at the helm. When will she be held to the same standards she supposedly held the men's basketball program to 5 years ago? A little help here Chancellor?

With all due respect, we are in no position to criticize PFW at this point. Their standing is stronger than ours, both head-to-head and in general.

With all due respect, we are in no position to criticize PFW at this point. Their standing is stronger than ours, both head-to-head and in general. We suck. No getting around that. And we have completely fumbled an opportunity to dominate a terrible league. But I'm not talking about year-to-year results. I'm talking about a program's ability to be a perennial challenger in the conference as well as add something in other sports. I will backtrack a little bit in my criticism of PFW since I know we needed a baseball school at that point and they also check other boxes for the league as well. To your original point, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Detroit have really let down the conference over the last 5 years (Milwaukee in basketball; Green Bay, and Detroit in all sports).

Indeed, A more appropriate name for the Horizon League could be the Half-Hearted League....at least in mens basketball

Perhaps we should distinguish between the lousy programs we've added (IUPUI, IPFW and Robert Morris) and the lousy ones that remain (Milwaukee, Green Bay, Detroit). However you slice it, it's not a pretty picture for the Half-Hearted League.

Can't forget the Penguins.... Youngstown State has made small improvements over the years. They're not the anchor on the league they once were. And they're respectable in other sports as well.

That’s correct. And that’s why I was already pointing out three years ago that WE are now the Youngstown that we all derided a decade ago! And now three years have gone by and we are…much, much worse.

Agree, we are somewhere in between YSU and IUPUI closer to the latter.
