Congratulations to Coach Val on being offered the head coaching position at Butler and thanks for his service in Milwaukee, albeit only one year. In watching from afar, it is clear he has what it takes to succeed at a very high level.
For Panther fans, this is a blow. There is no one to blame. It is the result of incredibly bad luck and terrible timing. The dominos fell starting with the unusual-timed firing of OSU's Thad Matta that quickly lead to the opening at Coach Val's alma matter, which happens to be one of the top non-power conference basketball programs in the country. Who would have thought one week ago Milwaukee would be on this off season's coaching carousel? There is no one to blame. Please, let's follow Coach Val's lead and accept this with the same class he has shown.
Almost all mid-majors are relegated to experience one step forward/one step back. It seems that for us, going back decades, our program takes one step forward/two steps back. I know, I know, much of this is internally inflicted, but not this time around.
On to the next chapter...

Right, other than that if our program hadn't been actively sabotaged we never would have had Jordan as our coach to begin with. But hey, it was a beautiful year, what with those 11 wins in the worst Horizon League in history and all the extra space the remaining few fans had to stretch out in at the Arena.
So au revoir, LeVall. We'll always have the excitement of those two great wins against awful teams in Detroit!

Butler has such a long history of hiring terrible coaches - I'm sure this one will flame out as well.

I'm sure he'll do fine there. But here, he had 11 wins. You can look it up.

Class act as always, Fran. You expected more? Jeter was fired nearly 15 months ago and he still brings it up constantly. His fanboy heart is forever broken.

Oh horsesh*t. Jeter Derangement Syndrome seems to have bought a pathetically small subset of our now pathetically small fan base front row tickets to the destruction of our program under it's current "leadership," but they can't admit it. It's like a certain subset of voters who are sure that the constant chaos and scandal in the White House are being caused by everyone but the con man with the orange mop.
As Jimmy has said a hundred times. Rob Jeter isn't the issue any more. He's never coming back. Unfortunately it's likely we will never again have a program as good. But we CERTAINLY have no chance of that if other more important things don't change in the department.
But hey, knock yourself out JDSers. "It's all Jeter's fault!! Waaaaaah!!!!!"

Very disappointing. I think Coach Jordan did a great job with what he was presented with. I took him as a man of his word that he wanted to be here. This leaves us in a huge bind. It's like starting from scratch for the second time in just over a year.

Can't blame the coach, but this still sucks. So tough to build a program at a mid-major. And in any college sport it really hurts when a coach who was all about your school leaves quickly. Really stinks for those players.

Under Bud Haidet's direction, this once-proud athletics program won 85 of a possible 160 conference regular-season and tournament titles from 1993-94 through 2008-09. You can look it up.
Since the present athletic director's appointment on March 4, 2013, we have won exactly ONE, the one that was captured by the men's basketball team in March of the following year. You can look it up.
Now I ask you all: who is the problem here?

Wow. Somebody posts an innocuous note wishing the departing coach well and hoping for better days ahead and immediately people start grinding their same old tired axes. That's why we can't have nice things.

I join those wishing our former coach well and believe that he'll excel at Butler ... because he seems motivated to succeed and especially because it's BUTLER.
As for what's become of our program, eh.
