Oh horsesh*t. Jeter Derangement Syndrome seems to have bought a pathetically small subset of our now pathetically small fan base front row tickets to the destruction of our program under it's current "leadership," but they can't admit it. It's like a certain subset of voters who are sure that the constant chaos and scandal in the White House are being caused by everyone but the con man with the orange mop. As Jimmy has said a hundred times. Rob Jeter isn't the issue any more. He's never coming back. Unfortunately it's likely we will never again have a program as good. But we CERTAINLY have no chance of that if other more important things don't change in the department. But hey, knock yourself out JDSers. "It's all Jeter's fault!! Waaaaaah!!!!!" There's only one person on this board that been constantly crying "waaaaaah!!!" for the last year and it isn't the so-called JDSers. Beautiful. Now the argument is "I lnow you are but what am I?" But I'll be charitable. It's possible that whenever any of us (yes, there's more than just me) was saying "Hey wait a minute -- the emperor has no clothes!" you were hearing "Waaah!" That could happen when you have your hands over your ears, are running around in circles and yelling "lalalalalala, I'm not listening!!!!" The emperor has no clothes.

Under Bud Haidet's direction, this once-proud athletics program won 85 of a possible 160 conference regular-season and tournament titles from 1993-94 through 2008-09. You can look it up. Since the present athletic director's appointment on March 4, 2013, we have won exactly ONE, the one that was captured by the men's basketball team in March of the following year. You can look it up. Now I ask you all: who is the problem here? Oh c'mon, g-o-d, admit it. We're just tired of all the winning!

Is there a mute button? If I have to read one more comment by BBFran I'm going to vomit all over my keyboard!

I have been searching for that mute button for about the last year in a half and sadly I have not found one yet. Wow. I literally had this same exact thought minutes ago. I prefer to keep coming back to the message board I've frequented and enjoyed for the last 12 years, but some people make that so damn hard.

Fran has a point. I agreed with Jeter's firing but it was carried out in such a poor manner that it seriously damaged the program.
The point is that you can agree that Jeter needed to go and also agree with Fran.

(If you recognize the name of the program, you're probably old enough to remember a far tamer, much less contentious era).

The point is that you can agree that Jeter needed to go and also agree with Fran. That doesn't seem to be the point being made...at least not this year. This year the point is "we're circling the drain and we'll be in D3 soon" I definitely don't agree with that, nor do I see how landing Butler's preferred replacement to Holtmann in the immediate wake of the bungled Jeter firing signals it.

The point is that you can't build a program on a corrupt foundatuon. Doesn't matter who the coach is.
Nobody expected the opening at Butler, but in college sports there are always unexpected challenges. The obligation of good administrators is to put a program in position to overcome such obstacles. Ours has done nothing but subject us to serial debacles.
And yet some still believe they can whistle past the graveyard.
None of this had to happen. None of it.

Alright, a lot of melodrama in there...could you expand on this for me? Nobody expected the opening at Butler, but in college sports there are always unexpected challenges. The obligation of good administrators is to put a program in position to overcome such obstacles. Ours has done nothing but subject us to serial debacles. Obviously last offseason was a mess, but we seemed to be on the right track under Jordan. You seem to be implying that the administration failed in replacing him....before they've done anything?

its a shame LaVall is leaving, but when the alma maters comes to you, and opens the checkbook, and asks ' how much to sign?" you sign. I personally had hoped that he could have stayed here for at least 5 years, so we could see what he could make of this program. unfortunately it was not meant to be. now we start all over again. still the team showed talent during last years conference tourney run. Young teams take time for the light to come on, and we saw that with the 23 regular season losses, several of which would have gone the other way with a more experienced team. Valpo leaving, opens the door for us to imo win the conference this year. Yes , we will have a feeling our period with the new coach, but I'm not the sort to hold on to the past for too long. i want UWM to become respected in basketball again, as it was from 2003-06, but i know that will take stability and direction. That starts with hiring a good coach.

Just saw where Butler's prize recruit Kyle Young flipped his commitment and is now going to attend...duh OSU. That's too bad for LJ.
