Right. Mr. Higgins was just speaking in hypotheticals.
His "rapid fire" questions were "just for fun" and not indicative of, at the very least, serious questioning of the need/viability of Milwaukee as a D1 program.
Oh, and I am sure no one else on the Board of Regents has any sympathy to that position....especially not the UW Madison alums who would love nothing more that to be the only D1 public school show in town.
If the Regents decide that they would rather not keep pumping money into UW Milwaukee for athletics as the necessary levels, there will be little advance notice and there will be nothing anyone can really do about it, either. It will not go up for a referendum or something. They will decide, and that will be that. The certainly will not give 2 sh*ts how much we have "banded together".
Milwaukee Athletics is in SERIOUS trouble. We have an inept AD, a disinterested Chancellor, and a Board of Regents with at least one member very much on the record questioning it's very existence.
The 10 of us on this board "banding together" will not do a damn thing about any of that. Neither will it propel us to Butler 2.0 status. If you really, in your heart, believe that what we do on this board can do anything to change what happens on Downer, you need only look back at last year at this time to see how wrong you are.
Some of us tried, and failed, to force change at the top. Some of those people were more prominent and powerful than you could ever dream of being. They, and we, were told to go f*ck ourselves.
Oddly, now many of those demanding we "band together" did everything they could to oppose us, and propped up the head dingbat who is more than partially responsible for the mess we are now in, and worse yet completely clueless on how to rectify it. That takes some serious nerve.
Personally I wish the situation were anything but this, but it is what it is.
At this point, I am getting very close to not caring one way or another. I care enough now to post here where 10 people might see it (6 of whom probably work for the AD).
If things keep going in this direction, I won't even care that much anymore, and as far as I am concerned, they can close the whole damn school for good. I would prefer that than being associated with the local clown college run by dingbats, idiots, and screw-ups who couldn't run a lemonade stand.
