I would like to thank the administrators of this message board for temporarily locking this board. The divisiveness and name calling was becoming too much on this message board.
Aren’t we all fans of the Milwaukee Panthers and would like to see what’s best for the program?
I understand that some people on this message board were personal friends of Rob Jeter and were upset to see him let go. But the notion that the athletic director, Amanda Braun, somehow sabotaged Rob Jeter is ridiculous. Jeter had an overall record verse division 1 opponents of 122-127 in his first 8 seasons as head coach before Braun was employed by, was affiliated, or was connected to UWM.
Jeter was the head coach here for 11 seasons and Braun was only an employee and the athletic director of the university for the last three seasons of Jeter’s tenure.
Certainly there are legitimate and fair criticisms and questions for the athletic director and the athletic department. The number one thing that will help all of the shortfalls of the athletic department is for the only revenue generating sport and the face of the athletics department, men’s basketball, to win at a high level, compete for conference championships and make it to the NCAA tournament on a regular basis instead of once every 10 years.
Coaches are fired and let go, that’s part of sports. Fellow Horizon League member, Wright State, fired their coach, Billy Donlon, after 6 years. Billy Donlon compiled an overall record in his 6 seasons as head coach of Wright State of 109-94 and a Horizon League regular season record of 53-49 compared to Rob Jeter’s overall record of 102-95 and a Horizon League regular season record of 53-49 in the same 6 seasons.
One thing I was disappointed to see on this board among some posters was the accusations, the name calling, and the negativity. I started following the Panthers when I was in high school during Bruce Pearl’s years and I remember the excitement, enthusiasm and potential of the program back then.
I have witnessed Rob Jeter’s overall record verse division 1 opponents of 151-161 in the past 10 seasons and felt that change was needed from a head coaching perspective to move this program forward.
I have no affiliation with the university, the athletic department, or its athletic director. I’m just an objective fan that we would like the Panthers to be the class of the Horizon League again.
I’m excited about the hiring of a new head coach and I’m enthusiastic about the direction and potential of the program going forward.

This is why this whole thing is a double-standard of the highest order: I spent years - YEARS - of time on this board calling out people to give up the negativity, so much so that it eventually became a joke. Freak, the student who founded this board (now alum), even changed his avatar to Rachael Dratch SNL character Debbie Downer to poke fun at me for calling out the negativity. Yet here we are, and some people got negative and the board got SHUT DOWN? That's a joke. A huge - no, Bernie/Donald YOOOOOOOGE - joke. You know why? Because the Admin claims things got real heated. You're darn right they did, that's what happens when people passionately disagree. Another funny thing? This isn't nearly the most contentious argument that's happened here in the past. It's okay. Black Panther U - as much as we appreciate your years on here fighting negative thoughts, I think it has worn off and it's time for you to go. Also, Panther U (at least the Twitter handle) should go. You have been so negative towards the program, I'm embarrassed to read it as a Panthers fan. Some like Jeter, some don't. Some like Braun, some don't. Opinions are wide. But your tweets are mostly negative and while you have your right to your opinion, calling it Panther U makes it seem as if the whole fan base agrees with you. As a donor and season ticket holder, I wholeheartedly disagree with your approach. I gave up my tickets because I didn't think Jeter was the correct hire when Pearl left. After 10 years supporting the program I didn't want to see another slow paced, UW Badger-eque approach. I am energized by the change and while I re-upped my season tickets during the Jeter years, I will increase my donations for the new regime. The point is, you don't represent all Panther fans so please don't push Twitter handles and websites like you do. GO PANTHERS!!

In that same period Bruce Pearl was fired from Tenessee, was on a NCAA Show Cause for 3 years for lying about a recruiting violation, and then has had 2 losing seasons with no post seasons at Auburn (5 wins in conference this year, 4 the year before).
Not sure how long you have been watching basketball, but I think that you may want to reconsider which "style" you prefer.

I prefer a style that gets fans in the seats at a mid major. Btw. I've successfully played and coached this game for decades. My brother was Victor-e and we both worked in the athletic department as students. In addition, I'm a sizable donor so if I were you i would think about what I say to people on these forums. Some of them are more entrenched in keeping your program afloat than you think.

My brother was Victor-e and we both worked in the athletic department as students. In addition, I'm a sizable donor so if I were you i would think about what I say to people on these forums. Just wish you all realized how much damage you are doing to the program and coaching search with your ignorant and childish approach to pr. Here's to hoping you never come to another uwm game.
