Just saw Lance Allan's piece on Channel 4.
To hear Matt Tiby, essentially a Top 5 All-Time player in the program's D-1 history, go on TV and say his degree from this university doesn't mean a damn thing to him sickens me to no end.
On the other hand, I hope the players continue raising holy hell in the media, as it is bound to smoke Mone out of whatever hollowed out tree in Downer Woods he's been hiding in for the last week to 10 days.

That won't get Jeter his job back. It may or may not get Braun canned. What it will do is make our Coaching job less attractive way less attractive to any decent candidate. It will also make the general public and donors way less likely to support the program and it will make us less attractive to recruits. To have a Basketball player who is getting a free degree that others are paying tens of thousands for, say it's worthless insults the University, its faculty, students and alumni. It says more about his character and what he values than it does about Amanda Braun. It undercuts everything else he and other players are saying. Many of the people on this board say that the University Administration doesn't support the program. If that's true isn't it also true that same Administration may decide all the negative publicity isn't worth even the small investment it's making in Athletics.

I've spoken to Akeem and his father on several occasions and they are outstanding men. They believe strongly in civil rights and standing up for important issues.
I was so proud to have him represent our university.
Meanwhile, instead of embracing the sport as a potential engine for growth and centerpiece for the university, the long-standing resentment of men's basketball and men's basketball players here continues.
If you ask many former players like J.O. or E Money, there are deep-rooted systemic problems in play at Milwaukee.

Once Mone wakes up from the nap underneath his desk, maybe he can ask his old friend Mile Lovell to come back to campus and run laps around Klotsche with the players. Everything will be great again.

David Davis: "Today, UWM chancellor Mark Mone is expected to join us on the Wake-Up News to talk about the men's basketball situation over there."
Joyce Garbaciak: "Good morning, Mark!"
MM: "What? Huh? Sorry, I had a long night of sleep and I'm still shaking off the cobwebs."
DD: "Well, let's start with last week's firing of longtime men's basketball coach Rob Jeter."
MM: "Rob Jeter was fired?!?!"

I agree with Milwsport on this one. These players should be ashamed of their current actions. Our program has a history of success - success which they helped build that they are now tarnishing. Yes, we have facilities and funding challenges, but they have been an issue since the 90's and have improved slowly over time. I remember working in a metal shack as a student that housed the athletics offices and while it was an embarrassment, we still went to our first NCAA tournament while housed there. That situation has improved with the additional to the Klotsche center. Every program has issues of some kind (otherwise guys like Sulemon would still be playing at Duke). But for these players to take the issues public and put a black eye on the program is ridiculous. Springs says he loves the Panthers and wants to be one - then shut up in the media and air your grievances with the AD and new coach like every so called "sparkling" program would handle their issues. Don't live tweet private meetings like a juvenile. If i was the new coach i'm not sure i would even want him on the roster knowing any time he is upset it goes out for the world to see. If i tell him to run because he misses free throws in practice is he going to call for my head...go play for someone else if you don't want to be the next Panther legend and lead us to the NCAA tourney again.

- Refusing to lift a finger to fix the practice situation for hoops in the meantime between May 2013 and the opening of the practice facility. Springs put it best - players not allowed to practice on their own, team pushed out of gym by Ultimate Frisbee, etc. Can you elaborate on this? I had heard something about this previously but was never given details.

'Holic, I can tell you for a fact that this once happened several years ago. I witnessed as an ultimate Frisbee player came up to our men's basketball coach and told him that his time was up.
Yeah, I can see that happening at North Carolina ... or Marquette.

Right?!?! Can you see Coach K, Bo, Bobby Knight or any other well respected coach keep this guy on their roster after the way he has acted? I appreciate that its a family decision and this team is a brotherhood, but then don't throw your brothers into a firestorm because you don't like the amount of practice available to you. Every player in UWM history has wanted a better practice situation but he is the first to go raise hell about it publicly. But it was because he wasn't be treated fair and all so...lets give him a blue ribbon for his actions.

Thanks for your comments on the board. Good to have you here. Can you see Coach K, Bobby Knight or any other well respected coach working for a program that requires them to share gym time with Ultimate Frisbee and Flag Football? ? I am sure Duke gets run out of their practice facility all the time for such things.
